If you say it doesn't arise, then, as the subject, the discriminating mind, in the case of breathing, etc., even if one part of the breath is missing, you will not arise, because all parts of the breath are your substantial cause. If you say that each part of the breath is the cause of the mind, then, as the subject, consciousness, due to the increase or decrease of breath, you will also have differences of increase or decrease, because the strength or weakness of breath is your immediate cause. Pervasion: Whatever result does not produce different increases or decreases from the different increases or decreases of a cause is not its result. Third, refuting self-contradiction: If you also arise simultaneously with multiple discriminations in one person, then, as the subject, consciousness discrimination, the former is the cause of the latter, and multiple similar types do not arise at the same time, because producing each subsequent similar type requires a definite ability. The reason is established: If consciousness discrimination is attached to other things, such as musical instruments, then it will be seen that it does not even grasp other things, such as form, etc., by making it unable to grasp things like form at that time. If you say that in the womb, etc., the mind arises simultaneously from the body at first, and later the mind is certain to produce each subsequent similar type from the previous similar type, so it is the same, then, as the subject, the body, why does your ability to produce the mind disappear later? It should not disappear, because later it is no different from the body that produced the mind before. Third, refuting the erroneous dispute about this is divided into two: dispute and answer. First: If the body disappears at the time of death, then, as the subject, the mind will exist alone, because the mind exists and it does not depend on the body. The second is divided into three: explaining the two causes of the later aggregates, refuting the proof of no connection, and establishing the proof of reasonable connection. First: Possessing a body, as the subject, there is no fault of the mind existing alone after death, because if the cause of the body in the next life obtains the function of producing the body in the next life from the body at the time of death,

If the mind at the time of death is not a limb, i.e., not a concurrent cause, for the sake of the continuity of the mind in the body of the next life, then even if only the mind exists separately after death, the mind at the time of death becomes a concurrent cause for the body of the next life. So, what is the immediate cause of the body of the next life? Another body, i.e., the body of the next life, has the nature of dharma. You have an immediate cause, because the five aggregates at the time of death in this life are the very cause of the immediate cause that produced you. Here, most people agree that if it is not a limb, it is like being born from the desire realm to the formless realm. If it is a limb, then the reason is not established, just like being born from the desire realm to the desire realm. It is unreasonable to explain this distinction as an answer, because the mind stream is cut off in the state of the two absorptions, and the complete absence of form in the formless realm is the view of the Vaibhashikas, not the view of the Sutrantikas. The former believes that the meaning of the immediately preceding cause is that other similar things are not interrupted, but not that other dharmas are not interrupted. The latter considers it to be the substantial cause. The Vaibhashikas and Sutrantikas have a very extensive debate on the existence or non-existence of form in the formless realm, which is explained in the commentary on the Abhidharmakosha. Explaining the meaning of the scripture as the meaning of the answer also does not enter into the meaning of the words, because it is not related to "the five aggregates of this life." If it is said that similar things are not necessarily immediately preceding causes, then this is the same as not being a distinguishing answer. The five aggregates of this life become the cause of the form of beings in the formless realm, which also means that there is a subtle form that becomes the basis of consciousness through the habits left by it, but not that the five aggregates actually exist, because this would lead to the fault of having an intermediate state when being born into the formless realm. The intention of the author of the Ornament and his followers in explaining habits as the cause is also the same. No one like this has appeared in this snowy land who speaks the truth as it is. The second point is: the body and mind at the time of death have the nature of dharma. The body and mind are not the cause and condition of the next life, because they are not observed there. The body of the next life
