Refutation of speech. The first part has two points: refuting that each is meaningless, and refuting that each is meaningful. The first point: If there is speech other than letters, is that speech composed of many parts or is it a single indivisible unit? If it is composed of many parts, that is, multiple components, can each part express the meaning of the whole speech? If these parts are independent and each part cannot express the meaning of the whole speech, then, the parts of speech, as the subject of debate, it follows that you are falsely imputed as being able to express the object of expression when you are assembled, even though you are not able to express the object of expression when you are not assembled. Because each of you cannot express the meaning, but the assembly can express it. It is like imputing a Brahmin boy who is not a lion as a lion. If you accept this, it will become man-made. Second point: If each part of the speech contains the meaning of the whole speech, then, speech, as the subject of debate, it follows that the imputation that you need multiple parts to understand the meaning is false. Because understanding one of your parts means that all the meanings of the speech are understood. If it is said that all the parts of the speech are heard together, so understanding one part does not mean understanding all the meanings, then, speech, as the subject of debate, understanding meaning from you should not depend on the temporal difference of hearing your parts sequentially. Because hearing one of your parts is the same as hearing all of your parts simultaneously. Second case: If speech is a single indivisible unit, then, speech, as the subject of debate, it is impossible for your parts to be understood sequentially, that is, to be heard. Because you do not have different parts. Second part: Is speech other than letters impermanent or permanent? If it is impermanent, then, the speech of the Vedas, as the subject of debate, must be produced by effort. Whatever is impermanent has no other cause than effort. If you admit this, then, the speech of the Vedas, as the subject of debate, how is it not man-made? It must be man-made. Because it is produced by effort. If it is permanent, then, the speech of the Vedas, as the subject of debate, if it is permanent, then it must be cognized, that is, heard. Whatever permanent dharma can be heard has no obscuration that hinders hearing it. If it is said that some co-operative conditions are needed for speech to be heard...

If (sound) is incomplete, it cannot be heard, so is it always not heard? Sound (dharma), your generation of hearing consciousness depends on other causes and conditions, which is certain, and we also admit, but the constant dharma that is still certain as before is contradictory, because causes and conditions will change. The third part is divided into two points: refuting non-pervasiveness, refuting pervasiveness. The first point: Is the indivisible language of the Vedas pervasive everywhere or not? If they are not pervasive, then the language of the Vedas (dharma), except for one place, will not be cognized in all other places, because it only exists in one place. The second part is divided into two points: establishing the thesis, refuting faults. The first point: If that language is pervasive everywhere, then all sounds (dharma), all people who can hear sounds will simultaneously cognize them, because you are the audible sound that is pervasive everywhere. The second part is divided into two points: refuting the difference of conditioned phenomena, refuting the difference of well-made phenomena. The first point: If sound can be heard, it is only assembled by causes and conditions, and the root consciousness is only cognized by things assembled, so all sounds will not be cognized simultaneously, even so, sound (dharma), by what causes and conditions is it assembled and changed? It will not change, because it is unchanging. In addition, if sound can be heard, and the root consciousness is well assembled, then that person (dharma), you will also hear all sounds simultaneously, because the sound you hear and all sounds are indivisible and one. The second point: If only one sound can be heard, because of the difference that the root consciousness is well assembled, the root consciousness will operate separately, so the hearing consciousness must only grasp one sound, so can all sounds not be heard? Hearing consciousness (dharma), how can the noise of many sounds such as poetry and songs be heard? It will not be heard, because it must only grasp one sound. If hearing the noise, only many meaningless sounds are heard simultaneously, but not many meaningful languages and words are heard simultaneously, then, unlike merely meaningless sounds, there exists the nature of the expresser who expresses different meanings, this (dharma), is only very believed due to the power of faith.
