If merely proving existence on the base is unnecessary. If the difference of existence, such as permanence and oneness, is established, although the main part is established, such a difference does not follow in the example, so there is no fault of "the reason cannot be the property to be established," is it? Answer: This is the same as taking existence as the reason. If merely taking existence as the reason, it is unnecessary. The difference of existence, such as the existence of sound, does not follow. Therefore, the difference of existence does not follow, and in terms of reason, both the reason and the proposition to be established are equally lost. If you say so, the second point has four situations: if taken as the proposition to be established, there is no definition of the proposition to be established; if taken as the reason, the definition of the reason is complete; if taken as the proposition to be established, there is no correct proof; if taken as the reason, it is the knower of the proposition to be established. The first situation is: if existence is the property to be established, then on the subject established by valid cognition, is it merely existence, or is it the existence distinguished by permanence and oneness on the main part, which is the property to be established? If according to the first situation, the dispute over whether the main part exists or not, for both the opponent and the proponent, on the common property established in common appearance, merely being distinguished by existence, that subject, you are not a correct proposition to be established for others, because from you, some of the opponent's meanings will not be established beforehand, and you are also not prevented by the opponent. If according to the second situation, if on the main part, taking the existence with differences such as permanence as the proposition to be established, then such a difference, on a certain base, cannot be established by reason, because the reason for establishing it will become one that does not follow in any example with the property. Because proving mere existence is unnecessary, if existence is taken as the proposition to be established, then that existence must be distinguished by permanence and oneness, and that difference cannot be established on any property, therefore existence on the main part is unreasonable. The second situation is: if it is the same as being taken as the reason, if you say so, that difference of existence, such as the existence of sound, if not taken as the reason, merely the thing itself, when establishing the impermanence of sound, the thing

Oh, as for that subject. It can be a valid proof for establishing that sound is impermanent, because the subject of that establishment is established, and on its own similar example, it is pervaded by the impermanence of its own to-be-established dharma, and the subsequent following is without defect. Third, as for the existing thing. How can it become the to-be-established on the principal object by means of reasoning, and why does it not become so? Because on the principal object, none of the dharmas of both existence and non-existence that you establish can become a valid reason. Thus, as for the principal object itself, it is impossible for the dharma of existence, such as being able to perform a function, to be established as a dharma of the side, because the principal object itself has not been established as existing. As for the dharma that depends on both existence and non-existence, knowable things, it is not a valid reason for establishing that the principal object itself exists as a thing, because your pervasion of that establishment is mistaken. As for the non-existent dharma, such as not being able to perform a function, it is like an overstatement, because it contradicts the existing thing. Fourth, existence cannot be a valid reason either, because if you establish existence, there is no desire to know. If you establish both, the pervasion is mistaken. If you establish non-existence, the pervasion is contradictory. If you say that the nature of existence is established as pervaded by the dharma to be established, and if it is certain, it is knowable, and from existence, like impermanence, the nature that is certain as pervading, and the mind also certainly determines it in this way, it is the dharma of knowable, but if it is not so certain, the dharma of existence, etc., is not the dharma to be established, because the reason with uncertain pervasion cannot establish the to-be-established. Therefore, if the dharma of reason is certain as pervading and being pervaded, then when this dharma disappears, the disappearance of the reason is necessarily established, for example, if by the statement of subsequent following, it is certain that impermanence itself pervades what is made, then if it is permanent, it is certain that it does not pervade what is not made, or by the statement of disappearance, what is not made pervades what is not destroyed, if it is certain, then if it is made, impermanence pervades, just as it is necessarily certain. The meaning of this treatise is that existence becomes an example of a valid proof for establishing that sound is impermanent, just as it becomes a valid proof for establishing that sound is impermanent, so it seems to be stated clearly in the continued meaning of the previous text. As it is said in the "Determination of Valid Cognition": "Destruction is like the result and existence."
