Possessing. To prevent the term of having a share (skal don) in the basis, it is said that validity is the means of proof, because the three characteristics can be complete for preventing the term of having a share in the basis. The former is the same as preventing existence here, and applying this term to both negating reasons contradicts applying it only to the invisible, unobserved reason in the Pramāṇavārttika. Secondly, some things are not related to the meaning expressed in the context of the treatise, and although things exist beyond the senses, they cannot be observed like perception, and those shares that do not have a means of proof are the subject of the thesis. Since the validity of the person who has become the basis of the share is not observed, how can it be established as definitely non-existent, it cannot be established, because even if you exist, you are not pervasive of what is observed by the validity of that person. Therefore, the validity of the continuum of the person who has become the basis of the share of eating meat is the subject of the thesis. It will not become the validity that universally applies the name to whether meat exists or not, because it is not the result of a definite understanding that determines whether meat exists or not. In the Svavṛtti, it is said that validity is the cause of having a definite result. In the Pramāṇavārttika, it is said that even if one only grasps the nature of impermanence, etc., with various distinguishing features, it is not definite because it is the one who decides the essence of that delusion, and from the uncertain, those are the same as not grasping what is seen, so that is the validity for them. It is not in another way, because validity is the one who has the fruit of entering. Śaṃkara Svāmin says that the validity of perception is also the validity for those who distinguish and determine the object of entry when grasping all aspects. Kāśmīra says that not deceiving is not validity for the meaning of not being attached, because it is too extreme. In this way, how can faults be completely grasped without distinction in perception, that which produces discrimination only within the aspect of complete grasping is considered perception, and that which does not produce discrimination is considered not grasped even if it is grasped. For those who do not produce certainty, it can be said that it is not validity because all aspects are not allowed to seek meaning, otherwise it is not.

As for the meaning of what was said, some ancient people thought that direct perception is definite, and they denied that what does not produce certainty is not a valid means of knowledge, which is unreasonable. Because in the realm of the Buddha, valid means of knowledge will disappear, because there is nothing that produces certainty there. If this is not established, then if the Buddha's wisdom is direct perception, it is not pervasive. Therefore, the meaning of these is that if everything is a conventional valid means of knowledge, then it must lead to certainty through its own power or the power of others, and this meaning has been explained in detail in the general meaning. The second part is divided into two parts: if there is a difference, then the certainty of non-existence is established; explaining the various ways of proving non-existence. The first part is: if it is thought that in the unobserved sign, it is impossible to have something that indicates non-existence, then the excellence of the sign is that for the unobserved that has a visible difference, some will make one understand non-existence, which becomes a valid means of knowledge, that is, a correct sign, because if the visible is not observed, then it is universally certain that it does not exist. If so, then it contradicts "not observing does not prove non-existence," which is not contradictory, because even if it exists, due to its own nature, that is, its own essence, it cannot be known by observation, and it cannot be known from the sign that can know, in this case, not observing does not prove definite non-existence, because for existing things, the valid means of knowledge does not universally observe. Therefore, this reasoning is a statement. The second part is divided into two parts: proving definite non-existence by negating the five relations; proving definite non-existence by observing the five contradictions. The first part is divided into two parts: proving by negating the cause and the pervasive; proving by negating the visible nature. The first part is: if on the dharma of the invisible unobserved sign, the negation of the relation of arising from that is established, then how is the relation established for the visible unobserved reason? For the reason of the unobserved cause and pervasive, in the two cases of following and contradicting the relation of arising from that and the relation of oneness, the contradiction is truly established, and all other visible unobserved reasons ultimately prove that the object to be negated is definitely non-existent through the valid means of knowledge not observing the object to be negated, therefore ultimately the relation of oneness is truly established, as what was said shows in sequence, if one does not understand the cause of smoke, fire, that is, the unobserved, as the subject, on some basis, the result, smoke, is non-existent, in this way to prove, because the three aspects of this way of proving are complete.
