Because of not knowing what is not a tree, the sign and pervasion are admitted. Suppose: Non-tree, as the subject of the proposition. After the sound of 'tree,' to apply a name to a tree, that is, the applier, you have completely abandoned it, therefore it should not be applied. Because the sound 'tree' has not excluded you. For example, the difference of trees, such as Shaba, etc., because it has not been excluded from the object of the designation of 'tree,' therefore it is abandoned from the designation, and should not be applied. If it is said that when designating, previously not preventing other non-trees, but in the manner of merely establishing, for example, like Shaba in front, fully indicating another common meaning existing in one thing, and then saying 'this is a tree,' thus designating the common meaning, it will also designate all manifest things. After that sound, when applying the name, that is, when applying, one will also understand that common meaning or the manifest thing possessing that common meaning, and therefore, if it is thought that there is no fault of mutual dependence or the possibility of applying to non-trees, then for that, also saying 'this with branches is also a tree,' with the determination of non-possession, or saying 'only this is a tree,' with the determination of possessing others, like the first designation, at the time of applying the name, from the sound of 'tree,' abandoning non-trees, it should not be applied. Because at the time of designation, the designation of 'tree' has not excluded non-trees. If it is like the second case, excluding non-trees, and then applying the designation of 'tree,' then non-trees should not be excluded. Because of not knowing non-trees, therefore the inference 'because of not knowing trees' is irreversible. The third case is: For the manifest things of trees and non-trees, because one sees separately the presence or absence of the common entity of trees, therefore at the time of designation, saying 'only this is a tree' to designate, therefore at the time of applying the name, there is no fault of applying to non-trees, and also because the common meaning has been designated, it will also designate all excluded things. Therefore, because it pervades everything. For those who say exclusion, it is not the same as them, because the common meaning does not exist in the thing, and the meaning of the time of designation is obscured, therefore one should not understand the meaning of the time of applying the name. If it is said like this, then according to us, for the same results of trees, etc., thinking that it is one kind, this called knowing, is the knower residing in one person, as the subject of the proposition. After you have directly seen the manifest things of trees and non-trees, with conceptual thought thinking that it is one kind, the cause of that knowing, the things such as Shaba, etc., and that thinking that it is one kind, that
