If it is said, is it necessary for dissimilar examples to be established in entities in order to show the opposite? The commentator replies that, in order to establish the opposite, for these two proofs, as the subject, it is not necessary for the dissimilar example to be established as a basis in entities. Even if there are no dissimilar examples established in entities, the opposite can be understood by stating the reason that the sign does not exist in the dissimilar side. Previously, even if most dissimilar examples do not exist in entities, it can be understood by stating that those dharmas do not exist, which shows the power of the word "also". Between this sentence and the next verse, there is no connecting word such as "thus" in the self-commentary, so it is not understood that the above-mentioned "does not exist" needs to be shown by the following text. Second, then, what is that reasoning? For example, the nature of a pot being impermanent, and for example, the causal relationship of fire and smoke in many houses, this reasoning, as the subject, is to show the opponent who does not understand the single ownership relationship of what is made and impermanent, and the arising relationship of fire and smoke. Because these two opponents understand these two relationships through examples, it is reasoning. That is, when the dissimilar example is not established in the entity, the opposite can be established by showing the concomitance in the similar example. Third, after showing it in this way, for scholars who understand the pervasive relationship through similar examples and thus recall the universal concept, and for scholars who remember the universal concept from the beginning and do not forget it, as the subject, the subsequent inference does not need to rely on the statement of the pervasive argument. Because the subsequent inference is merely stating the property of the subject in the argument. So, what should be done with the ignorant opponent who understands the pervasive relationship in the example but cannot recall the universal concept? Because the example shows the relationship, if the relationship is understood in the example, but the opponent who cannot recall the universal concept, as the subject, must state the pervasive in front of you, because it is necessary to make the person who does not recall the universal concept recall it. So, is it necessary to state both? For such an opponent, as the subject, by truly stating any one of the two pervasives in front of you, the correct memory of the other that has not been stated can be generated, because in this way

The other is understood through meaning. Regarding these meanings, some think that merely understanding the connection of the meaning of the wise in the examples does not require stating pervasion, which is unreasonable. Because merely understanding the connection in the examples is not the wise one in this case, and in order to remember the generality, it is necessary to state the pervasion. Some think that if those meanings of the earlier treatises are missing, then those permanent dharmas will not exist, and from this statement, they understand the reverse meaning. If it is understood from the statement, how should it be stated? For two people, the way to show the unintelligent is "for example," etc., and the way to show the intelligent is "for the intelligent," etc. It is also unreasonable to explain the meaning of merely stating one aspect of the dharma as the valid cognition that ascertains one aspect of the dharma. Because stating subsequent pervasion on the examples contradicts the cognition of stating reverse pervasion, and merely the knowledge of the opposite side of not knowing, and the meaning of the wise here are not the same. If merely stating the reason is explained as ascertaining one aspect of the dharma, then saying either of the two will necessarily have to be explained as ascertaining pervasion. This own system is the view of the auto-commentary and the root commentary of the Treausre of Reasoning. Other Tibetans do not seem to have explained the meaning of these three verses as they were previously explained. The fourth is the result and the nature. Therefore, there is no confusion between cause and nature. As the subject, there is a lack of cause, fire, and the nature of pervasion, firewood. On some basis, in order to establish the absence of smoke and heat, it is also a correct reason, because establishing in this way possesses three modes. Moreover, if it exists, it should be observable, therefore not observing the pot that has reason is also the subject. In order to establish that there is definitely a lack of an observable pot on some basis, it is a reason, because establishing in this way possesses three modes. The auto-commentary says that the reason for the term that has the object of refutation is called its reason, because such non-observation is the nature of self-negation. Not observing the cause and the pervasion is also the reason for both. Thus it is said. In this way, the sign of non-observation, as the subject, has been explained and included in three ways through the door of connection, and should also be combined.
