Extensive Explanation of Fallacious Reasoning. Fourth, the extensive explanation of fallacious reasoning is divided into two parts: marginal examination and actual content. The first part is: Starting from this text onwards, most later Tibetans have followed the practice of focusing solely on the subsequent meaning of the phrase "the treatise is unrelated to the occasion" and not combining it with the extensive explanation of fallacious reasoning. Because it is the subsequent meaning of that treatise, it does not harm the fact that it is an extensive explanation of fallacious reasoning. It has already been said that in the four extensive explanations, the end of the former is the beginning of the latter. Moreover, it is very clear from examining the main content and location of this text onwards. This is because most of the texts from this point onwards explain fallacious reasoning in conjunction with the tenets of externalists. Although it is not necessary to combine fallacious reasoning with the concise explanation in the Compendium of Valid Cognition, so it does not appear here, it must be combined with it in the Commentary on Valid Cognition, so it appears here. "If it does not exist, it does not arise, because it is non-existent." This statement also clearly explains this point. In the concise explanation, it is said: "If it does not exist, it does not arise, it is certain. Fallacious reasoning is different from this." This is because it acknowledges fallacious reasoning that is different from "If it does not exist, it does not arise, it is certain." It has also been said earlier that in the statements of others, it is not apparent which extensive explanation fallacious reasoning should be combined with to appear reasonable. It is ridiculous to not find these most of the texts and only focus on the four intermediate verses, or to think that there is no extensive explanation of fallacious reasoning at all. The second part is: Some people think that if two valid cognitions ( प्रमाण ,pramāṇa,measure) are reversed, the meaning of the division cannot be negated, but if the scriptural statement is reversed, it can be negated, because the scriptural statement pervades all things. If this is said, then there are five points to refute this: Merely sound, uncertain about the meaning, is fallacious. Words with special characteristics are not established, it is fallacious. Proving the true meaning with the sound of lineage is also fallacious. Therefore, merely scriptural statements can also be mistaken about the meaning expressed. Revealing internal contradictions, thereby denigrating the speaker. The first point is divided into two parts: Because there is no connection, it is not a valid reason. Refuting views that contradict scriptural statements. The first point is: The sound that is the object of statement, with its existence as the reason.

Because the expressed external object cannot be established as self-characterized, because the self-characterized external object that it expresses, and the absence of non-simultaneity are unavoidable. Therefore, the expressing words, as the subject of the argument, showing the intention of motivation in the speaker's continuum, can be established, because the way of establishing in this way is complete with the three aspects. The second part is divided into two points: correcting the scriptures that are suspected of being contradictory, and establishing non-contradiction after explaining the meaning of the scriptures. The first point is: if the expressing words are not the measure of external objects, then it is said in the Measure Sutra: "Trustworthy words are not deceptive, and are inferred from the general characteristics." If it is said that this is contradictory to inference. That is not to say that it is the definition of inference, however, when a realized person enters and returns to the extremely hidden place, he cannot enter and return by the measure of the power of things, so he can only rely on the scriptures. Among the scriptures, such scriptures are the measure, and it is said from the perspective of being completely determined as the measure. The second part is divided into three points: explaining the definition of trustworthy words, explaining the opposite meaning of non-deception, and explaining the way of inferring from the general characteristics. The first point is: the trustworthy words mentioned in the sutra, as the subject of the argument, are not said only from the perspective of the sutra, because it is not irrelevant, in showing the place of taking and abandoning, the previous and subsequent sentences are related, and it is not that it cannot accomplish the need, but it shows the means of accomplishing the need and following it, and it is not unnecessary, but it states the meaning of the need that is close to the person, that is to say, it is completely determined whether it is a language with three characteristics, and it is said from that perspective, not from the perspective other than the one with three characteristics. The second point is: the seen manifestation and the meaning of the unseen things are hidden, as the subject of the argument, when you show those, the direct perception and the inference of the power of things are also not harmful, that is, the trustworthy words are not deceptive. This refers to the meaning of non-deception at this time, because when you show it, taking the absence of harm by the two measures as the reason, it must be established that the scripture is not deceptive in the extremely hidden place. Here, some people think that the unseen is divided into two types: hidden and extremely hidden.
