Therefore, even if only grasping the various characteristics distinguished by aspects such as impermanence, since the nature of that error is definite, it is not decisive. From the perspective of indecision, it is similar to not grasping what is seen. In this way, it is a valid means of cognition for those. Another way of saying it is not, because a valid means of cognition is that which has the fruit of entering. Śaṃs. Even direct perception as a valid means of cognition is a valid means of cognition for those that are determined by the object of entry when grasping all aspects. Kāśīs. Merely not deceiving in the sense of non-attachment is not a valid means of cognition, because it is too extreme. Like this, how can the faults of direct perception without distinction be completely grasped? That which generates conceptualization only within is considered direct perception, and that which does not generate it is considered ungrasped even if it is grasped. Where certainty is not generated, it is said that it is not a valid means of cognition because all aspects do not enter into the pursuit of meaning. Otherwise, it is not. Some ancient people said that the meaning of these words is that direct perception is definite, and that which does not generate certainty is not a valid means of cognition, which is a refutation. This statement is unreasonable, because there would be no valid means of cognition on the ground of the Buddha, because there is no cause for generating certainty there. If it is not established, then if the wisdom of the Buddha is direct perception, it is not pervasive, which is too extreme. Therefore, the meaning of these is that if everything is a conventional valid means of cognition, then it is pervasive in leading to certainty by either self-power or other-power. This has been explained in detail in the general meaning. The second part is divided into two parts: if there is a difference, then the establishment of definite non-existence is accomplished. Explanation of the various names for establishing definite non-existence. The first part is: if it is thought that it is impossible to understand definite non-existence from the sign of not seeing, then the excellence of the sign is that for some of the not seeing that has the distinction of being visible, it is possible to understand definite non-existence, which is a valid means of cognition, that is, it becomes a correct sign, because if the visible is not seen, it is pervasive in definite non-existence. If so, then not seeing does not establish non-existence, which contradicts what was said before. If you ask this, then it does not contradict, even if it exists, one's own nature, that is, one's own essence, cannot be recognized by seeing, and the part that cannot be recognized from the sign that can be recognized, not seeing cannot establish definite non-existence.

Because valid cognition does not pervade existent things. This reasoning is because it is a statement. The second is divided into two: establishing the certainty of non-existence by negating five relations; establishing the certainty of non-existence by observing five contradictions. The first is divided into two: establishing by negating cause and pervasive factor; establishing by negating the nature of being able to appear. The first is: If the opposite of the relation of arising from that is established for the sign-property of non-appearance that is not observed, then how is the relation established for the reason of non-observation that is able to appear? For the reason of non-observation of cause and pervasive factor, among the two of forward and reverse of the relation of arising from that and the relation of identity, the reverse is actually established. All other reasons for non-observation that are able to appear ultimately establish the certainty of non-existence of the object to be negated by way of non-observation by valid cognition, so ultimately the relation of identity is actually established. These are shown in sequence. If the cause of smoke, fire, is not known, i.e., not observed, as the subject, in some place, it can establish that the result, smoke, does not exist, because the three aspects of establishing in this way are complete. For the non-observation of the nature of a tree, also as the subject, in some place, the nature of the meaning of just a tree is not a deer as the sign, this sign is correct, because the three aspects of establishing in this way are complete. Moreover, if it exists in some place, then through some reasons of non-observation of cause and pervasive factor that can be seen, it can be known that the result and the pervaded do not exist, otherwise it is not, because if the cause and pervasive factor that cannot appear are not observed, then the non-existence of the result and the pervaded is not pervasive. The second is: Able to appear, such as a vase, if the cause of not seeing, such as obscuration, is impossible to exist, as the subject, if the thing of a vase that is able to appear exists, then from the sign of being able to be seen but not seen, it can be known that the thing of a vase that is able to appear does not exist in some place, because if a vase that is able to appear is not observed, then non-existence is pervasive. The second is: Cold touch, as the subject, observing the contradiction that you and it do not coexist as the sign, from this it can be determined that you do not exist in some place, because if the contradictory thing that cannot coexist with you exists, then it is harmful to your existence. The third is divided into five: After grasping three meanings,
