If it is said that there is no fault as stated above in expressing the manifestation that can realize meaning through conventional agreement. The second part has three points: It is the same as the manifestations with genus and the single manifestations. There is no need to examine other commonalities. Even without other commonalities, it is reasonable to recognize. The first point is: Since this is the case, why not directly make a conventional agreement on the manifestation itself that is offered through commonality? If the answer is: Because it is infinite, it is impossible to make a conventional agreement on it. Then, the manifestations with genus, etc., as the subject of debate, you cannot make a conventional agreement on them, because they are also equally infinite. Because the manifestation of genus has not decreased. The second point is: For actions such as milking and plowing, all things that do not do these things are different in form from things that do these things. Why is there no sound to express this other exclusion that is mistaken for an external thing? As an answer, Dignāga said that when expressing things with genus, because they do not have autonomy, etc., faults will occur. This is the same as the above situation, because our genus and your exclusion of others are the same except for the name. If you say this, then this fault will be explained below, and even if this fault is established, it is acceptable. Manifestations, etc., as the subject of debate, for you, the generation of sound and consciousness does not require other substantial genus, because even without other genus meanings, sound and consciousness can be generated by being different from non-this. The reason for this is, does the sound of "cow" not distinguish or distinguish non-cow things? If according to the first situation, the sound of "cow", as the subject of debate, how can it be said that the conventional agreement is meaningful? Because it should be meaningless. Because if you do not exclude those things that you do not want, then you will not get what you want. This is universally present, because the speaker believes that the listener will completely abandon what he does not want and focus on what he wants, so he makes a sound. Or, it is not only to exclude non-this, but also to have the necessity to enter this. Or, in the commentary, this is the only meaning. If according to the second situation, this sound is not without distinction, but has distinction, so the sound will not become unnecessary. Then, the Vaiśeṣika school, as the subject of debate, the genus meaning referred to by the sound is other things, which is unreasonable. Is the necessity of sound not just to focus on what is desired after distinguishing other things?

Because of this, after completely cutting off others, one engages in desire. What use is there for other common meanings in between for you? Because there is no need for even a little. The third has three: Explaining the cause of the arising of recognition, refuting other causes of the arising of recognition, and refuting disputes about the cause of recognition. First, if there is no single commonality, then recognition will not arise for many appearances. If you think so, the appearances of a vase are the subject. Even if there are different substances without a single commonality, it is reasonable for recognition to arise, because the action is drawing water, like earthenware pots doing the same thing. After seeing them before, even if you see other things like gold pots later, although the fruit of drawing water and holding the pot is present, those other fruits do not arise, and the sound "ni" which has a separate object of removal, that is, the inner expressions, combine the previous one with this one, and thus recognize them as one. Second, there are four: A mere generality should not be the cause of recognition, appearances aided by generality should not be the cause, many dependent on generality should not be the cause, and generality dependent on any one should not be the cause. First, others think that recognition arises from generality. According to that view, recognition is the subject. It is not possible for generality alone to arise as the object of apprehension without relying on appearances, because there is the fault of being too extreme. How is it? Apprehending generality is the subject. It should always be that only generality itself is known, because it arises from taking only generality as the object of apprehension. If you accept this, then it follows that appearances are not known, because only generality is known. If you also accept that, then it follows that the two appearances associated with generality are never apprehended together, because of the time when appearances are not known. If you also accept that, then how can you apply the term "that appearance has generality"? It follows that you cannot apply it, because appearances cannot be determined to be related to that generality. The distinction has been accepted. Second, if the appearances aided by a single common object are the object-cause of the wisdom that apprehends generality, then there is no fault of not knowing appearances by apprehending generality. If you think so, a single common object is the subject. Does it eliminate the differences of those appearances?
