If asked, is there a fault of "unreasonableness"? Answer: This is also the same as the case of taking "existence" as a reason. If only "existence" is taken as a reason, then there is no need. Because the difference of "existence," like the "existence" of sound, has no subsequent concomitance. Therefore, if it is said that the difference of "existence" has no subsequent concomitance, then the reason is contrary to both the thesis and the property to be established. Secondly, there are four situations: if held as the thesis, then there is no definition of the thesis; if held as the reason, then the definition of the reason is complete; if held as the thesis, then there is no correct proof; if held as the reason, then it is what makes the thesis understood. The first situation is: if "existence" is the property to be established, then on the dharma established by valid cognition, is it merely "existence," or is the "existence" distinguished by the constant one difference on the subject, the property to be established? If it is the former, then because the subject exists on the common dharma that is commonly recognized by both the opponent and the proponent who are arguing about "existence or non-existence," merely distinguishing it with "existence," then this dharma to be established, dharma, should not be a correct thesis established for others. Because before you, some of the opponent's views will not be established, and the opponent has not prevented you from having such a view. If it is the latter, if on the subject, the "existence" distinguished by the nature of constancy, etc., is held as the thesis, then such a difference, dharma, cannot be established by reason on some bases. Because the reason for establishing it will become one that has no subsequent concomitance on any example of the subject. Because there is no need to establish merely "existence," so if "existence" is taken as the thesis, then it is necessary to distinguish "existence" by constancy, etc., and such a difference cannot be established on any dharma, so it is unreasonable to establish "existence" on the subject. The second situation is: if asked, is it the same to take "existence" as a reason? Answer: If the difference of "existence," like the "existence" of sound, is not held as a reason, but only the thing itself is taken as the proof for establishing the impermanence of sound, then only the thing itself, dharma, can become the correct proof for establishing the impermanence of sound. Because the property of the thesis it establishes is established, and on its own similar example, it is pervasively followed by the property of its own thesis, impermanence.

Because of the non-regression. Third, a thing exists, that is the subject. On the basis of the subject, how does the reason become the established, that is, it will not become the established, because on the basis of the subject, what you want to establish, whether it is an existent or a non-existent, cannot be used as a reason. Thus, the self-character of the subject, for the dharma of the existent aspect such as having function, is not established, because the self-character of the subject itself is not established. The dharma that depends on both existence and non-existence, knowable, this is the subject. The reason that becomes the establishment of the existence of the self-character of the subject in things is not correct, because your establishment of its pervasion is wrong. The non-existent dharma, such as not being able to function, is the subject. Similar fault. Because it contradicts the existence of things. Fourth, existence cannot be used as a reason, if the existent dharma is established, then there is no need for knowledge. If both are established, then the pervasion is wrong. If the non-existent dharma is established, then the pervasion is contradictory, if you say so. The nature of existence, if it is established that it is pervaded by the dharma to be established, that is, it is certain, then it is the knower, and from existence it is certain as the nature of the pervaded, such as impermanence, etc., the mind also certainly determines it in this way, this is the dharma of the knower, if the existent dharma etc. that is not determined in this way, then it is not the dharma to be established, because the established cannot be established by the reason of uncertain pervasion. Therefore, if the reason dharma is determined as the pervaded and the pervading, then when this dharma regresses, that reason will also certainly regress, for example, with the language of concomitance, it is certain that impermanence itself pervades the made, then if it is permanent, then the unmade pervades, it is necessarily implicitly certain, or with the language of the opposite, the unmade pervades the indestructible, then if it is made, then impermanence pervades, it is necessarily implicitly certain, like this. The meaning of this treatise, existence as an example of the establisher that establishes sound as impermanent, is like saying that existence can be used as the establisher that establishes sound as impermanent, therefore, it seems to be manifested in the subsequent meaning of the former. In the Pramāṇavārttika, "Destruction is the same as the result and existence." Immediately after saying this, it says "Because there is no cause, therefore destruction." etc., because this treatise did not appear in between, it is also established. The existence mentioned here as the reason is that the existence and thing in India have the same vocabulary.
