If a single opposite is expressed by two sounds, then it is not necessary to distinguish between dharma and dharmin by designation, because this would lead to a fallacy. If someone thinks so, then, on the dharmin cow, there are many differences such as not being a horse, not being a buffalo, etc. From the other differences such as not being a buffalo, abandoning the mere dharma of not being a horse, and those not abandoning not being a horse are dharmin. In sequence, the sound expressing dharma and dharmin, the difference in its designation is the basis or reason for its application, because this is the difference that follows the wishes of the understander of dharma and dharmin, that is, the listener. Therefore, it is necessary to distinguish between dharma and dharmin for the same thing, because it is for the sake of understanding the same thing in the manner of abandoning and not abandoning other differences. Third, not being a horse and not being a horse itself, this is expressing the general and the possessing of the general. Similarly, white cow and the white of the cow, etc., this is expressing qualities and the possessing of qualities, cow walking and the walking of the cow, etc., this is expressing actions and the possessing of actions, for all these, the substance, i.e., expressing dharmin, and the entity, i.e., the sound expressing dharma, those sounds are dharmin. There is no difference in meaning in your expression, because your difference is merely expressing the same thing by abandoning or not abandoning other differences. Furthermore, because one wants to understand the meaning of the occasion by abandoning or not abandoning other differences, it is permissible to express it with an ending that has a helping condition that is helpful to the expressing sound, or an ending that has an agent's helping condition, or another doing ending other than that, or another white, etc., without specifying, those sounds are dharmin. There is no difference in the meaning of the expressed object other than abandoning or not abandoning other differences, because it is merely expressing the same thing in various ways of expression. Second, for the Buddhist who considers other exclusion to be the object of sound, it is dharmin. For the Vaibhashika who wants to express the difference that possesses that other meaning of the genus, the expression of the same fault has been eliminated, because there is no difference in the meaning of the opposite. The pervasion exists, the genus, i.e., the general, and those possessing it are different entities.

If one wishes to establish sound on a particular through the means of another general meaning, then these three faults will occur. What are the three? Sound, as the subject, should not be independent in appearance, because it is established on appearance after stating another general meaning. The differences that exist in appearance should not be the same basis, because the differences that exist in the appearance of sound have not been abandoned. Sound, as the subject, the establishment on appearance should also be an imputation, because another general meaning has been stated. These are the statements of Dignāga. The third (part) has three points: pointing out that the fault falls on others; pointing out that one does not have that fault; clearly explaining how it falls on others. The first point is, the Vaiśeṣika says: If the dharma and the possessor of dharma are not different entities, then the distinctions of the sixth case and plural words, etc., would not be reasonable. If according to the views of the Vaiśeṣikas and grammarians, the sixth case and plural words, etc., are expressed from the perspective of different entities, not relying on the intention to express primarily, then for those, the possessor of dharma, the sixth case, the classification of words, plural words, etc., like "the thing of a cow is the cow itself," those words should not be established, because there is no otherness in meaning. This is the kind of debate. The second point is, according to our view, whatever words are the sixth case and plural words, etc., as the subject, even if there is no otherness in meaning, it is possible to establish them, because without relying on the otherness of external meaning, how does the speaker, that is, the expresser, determine what is the expression of meaning otherness and non-otherness? The expresser is just like that, because he is the expresser of meaning otherness and non-otherness. The third point is, if it is thought that the establishment of singular and plural words is all caused by one thing and many things, then for one woman and one grain of sand, the plural words such as "queens" and "sands" should not be established, because there is no cause of otherness that is established as otherness. Also, six villages, as the subject, the singular word "row of mansions" should not be established, because there is no cause of oneness that is established as one. Or, this is to introduce the following, space, as the subject, "the nature of space" this is the sixth case, and "the essence of space is space itself" this
