Generally, because the arising of the result depends on this own-characteristic. The subject, the Pradhāna, what is the use of investigating the meaning of your words? It becomes meaningless, because the meaning of your words is not capable of performing a function. For example, what is the use of those with desire investigating whether a hermaphrodite is beautiful or not? It is of no use. Fifth, if the meaning of the word is taken as the subject, if someone says that the Sutra states, "No object of investigation is found," and thus the own-characteristic of the Pradhāna is taken as the subject, and because it is not found, it is stated as the reason, then it contradicts the Sutra. The meaning of the word Pradhāna itself is the subject, and it is said to be imputed, because it is merely the object of conceptual consciousness. This meaning of the word, which is not established as depending on the Pradhāna substance, i.e., the non-finding, this subject, the logician Dignāga has stated as the reason for establishing that the meaning of the word Pradhāna does not depend on the Pradhāna substance, because it is the meaning of "non-finding." Extensive Explanation of Fallacious Reasons Fourth, the extensive explanation of fallacious reasons is divided into two: marginal analysis and the actual meaning. First, from this text onwards, U yuk pa considers "the treatise to be unrelated to the occasion," and only takes this as the subsequent meaning, and therefore does not combine it with the extensive explanation of fallacious reasons, and therefore most later Tibetans follow this. Because it is the subsequent meaning of that treatise, there is no harm to it being an extensive explanation of fallacious reasons, because in the four extensive explanations, the subsequent meaning of the later ones follows the end of the earlier ones, which has been said before. If we investigate the main content to be expressed and the place of dwelling from this text onwards, it is also very clear, because most of the texts from this point onwards explain fallacious reasons by combining them with the tenets of outsiders, and because the brief explanation of fallacious reasons in the Compendium on Valid Cognition does not need to be combined, it did not appear on this occasion, but in the Commentary on Valid Cognition it must be combined with it, so it appeared on this occasion. Because of "if absent, it does not arise, because of absence," this also clearly shows this meaning. In the brief explanation, "if absent, it does not arise, because it is certain, fallacious reasons are different from this," the identification of fallacious reasons other than "if absent, it does not arise, because it is certain," which is stated in this way.

It is because it is considered as such. As for the explanations of others, it does not appear that any of the extensively explained fallacious reasons can be established as appearing to be in accordance with reason, as mentioned above. If these extremely large treatises are not found, and only four verses in the middle are identified, and it is thought that there is absolutely no extensive explanation of fallacious reasons, these are all causes for laughter. Secondly, some people think that if two valid cognitions contradict each other, the meaning to be refuted cannot be refuted, but if the scriptures contradict each other, it can be refuted, because the scriptures pervade all meanings. To this, there are five refutations: mere sound is not certain of meaning, it is fallacious; words with special characteristics are not established, it is fallacious; establishing true meaning with the sound of categories is also fallacious; therefore, mere scriptures can also be confused about the meaning to be expressed; showing internal contradictions, thereby rebuking the speaker. The first case has two aspects: because there is no connection, it is not an establisher; to this, avoid contradicting the scriptures. The first case is: the sounds of expression, etc., are the subject of the proposition. Merely because it is taken as a sign of existence, it cannot be established that the external object it expresses exists in its own right, because the external object it expresses, if it does not exist simultaneously, will not produce the nature of non-existence. Therefore, these sounds of expression, etc., are the subject of the proposition. It can show the intention of the motivation in the speaker's mind, that is, it can be established, because the way of establishing it in this way has three conditions. The second case has two aspects: correcting the words of the scriptures that are suspected of contradicting; explaining the meaning of the scriptures, thereby establishing that there is no contradiction. The first case is: if the sounds of expression are not the valid cognition of external objects, then, in the Sutra on Valid Cognition, it says: Reliable words are not deceptive, they are inferred from the general. If it is said that this contradicts what is said in the sutra to be inference, then, it is not said that it is the nature of inference, however, when an enlightened person engages in taking and abandoning extremely hidden things, because the valid cognition of the power of things cannot take and abandon, therefore it can only rely on the scriptures. And, in the scriptures, it is said that something like this is completely considered as valid cognition, because it is considered as such. The second case has three aspects: explaining the definition of reliable words; explaining the meaning of non-deception from the opposite side; explaining the way of inferring from the general. The first case is: the reliable words mentioned in the sutra are the subject of the proposition. It is not said merely from the perspective of the scriptures.
