It is not necessarily definite, because its own destruction depends on other causes that arise later from its own cause. If it is dependent, then it pervades uncertainty, such as clothes that become colored depend on color, then the clothes are not necessarily colored. Furthermore, impermanence of dharma is the subject. It becomes something different from what is made, because it is the reason for other causes that arise later from the cause of what is made, that is, it becomes the result. If admitted, then is impermanence the cause or the result of what is made? If it is the former, then impermanence is the subject. It is not the cause of what is made, because it arises after what is made. If it is the latter, then impermanence is the subject. How can it be certain that the pervasion that you establish on some basis with the sign of what is made? It is uncertain, because even if you are the result of what is made. Fourth, elaborating on the nature of the two determining factors, there are two types: applied to the establishing sign of direct relation, and applied to the negating sign of inverse relation. The first has three: on the sign of the result, explain the determining factors of cause and effect; on the nature of permanence, explain the determining factor of a single entity; through the power of relation, determine the establishing sign as two types. The first has three: explain the valid means of determining cause and effect; refute the confusion of the result with the cause; summarize and explain the way of not being confused. The first is, smoke is the subject. It is not understood as not being confused with fire, because just seeing that there is fire and not seeing that there is no fire, it is not understood as not being confused with fire. If it does not pervade, then smoke is the subject. It can be called the result of fire, because it follows the benefit of fire to exist or not exist. It pervades, because following the benefit of its own cause to exist or not exist, this is the general law of the result, that is, the definition. The second has two types: refuting by extreme inference, and refuting by distinguishing. The first is, grammarians say that all results are confused with their causes, that is, confused in coming and going. For example, the result of fire, smoke, may also arise from the head of Indra who has no fire. If you say so, then smoke is the subject. It transcends having a cause, that is, it becomes without a cause, because without its own cause, you exist. If admitted, then smoke is the subject. It becomes always existing or not existing, that is, not occasionally existing, because it does not depend on other conditions.

Because it is without a cause. The former has pervasion, because things sometimes arise, and whatever arises depends on conditions to arise. The second case is: Is the head of Indra of the nature of having fire, or not? If it is of the nature of having fire, then smoke should not arise from the head of Indra without fire, because the head of Indra itself is fire. If according to the latter case, then how can it be said that smoke arises from the head of Indra? It should not arise. However, the head of Indra is not of the nature of fire. This is pervasive, because only that which has the nature of fire has the specific ability to produce smoke, while that which does not have fire does not have it. Furthermore, smoke is the subject, it should become without a cause, because smoke is smoke that arises from what is not the cause of smoke. The third case is: The nature of smoke is the subject, it should not arise from the head of Indra, which is not of the same kind as fire, because that is the cause of fire, that is, the result. Because from the concomitance and contraposition of fire, you see that you are one who concomitantly and contrapositively follows any fire. This verse is a summary verse. The second (part) has three: establishing the identity relationship of the object to be established, explaining the difference between the basis of establishment and the sign, and explaining the unconditioned reason for establishment. The first (part) has two: establishing that without the nature, it does not arise, and refuting that there is no difference between the subject and the sign. The first (part) is: Although the relationship of arising from that is established in the result sign, how does the non-arising in the absence of the nature sign exist? Although it has been said before that it is related to the mere existence of the nature, some argue that one aspect of the meaning of the commitment becomes a sign. In order to eliminate this dispute, they intend to explain the scriptures that show the nature of exclusion of others. Just as establishing that sound is impermanent by repetition, for the nature sign as well, it is the subject, and the relationship of non-arising in the absence is established, because the mere existence of the sign itself is inherently related to the dharma to be established. Therefore, the dharma that exists as the nature of impermanence, if impermanence does not exist, then you do not exist, because impermanence and nature are not different, they are one. The second (part) is:
