Because it pervades not being sometimes existent or completely non-existent, if it is without cause, then it must not depend on other conditions. Secondly, some, namely those who assert that nature is the cause, say: Just as the sharpness of thorns etc. is without cause, so these sufferings will arise without cause, this is strongly asserted. It is unreasonable, because the sharpness of thorns etc. and the truth of suffering, these are also subjects, having a cause, because there exists another previous object, which is its place of following or reversing. It pervades, because any previous object exists, depending on this, any later object arises or any previous object changes, even if it is reversing, the later object will also change, it is the place of following or reversing of the latter, this is strongly asserted as the cause of the latter. If so, the touch that has become the cause of the objective condition of eye consciousness, is a subject, it should be the cause of eye consciousness, because it is another later object, which is the place of following or reversing of eye consciousness. The touch that has become the cause of the objective condition of eye consciousness, is a subject, it is what is seen, namely the indirect cause of eye consciousness, because it is the cause of the form that has become the objective condition of eye consciousness. Secondly, thus suffering is established as having a cause, and it will not arise from causes of different kinds either, thus suffering, is a subject, it will not arise from Ishvara and the permanent Lord etc. either, because in general, the permanent is prevented from being a cause, because the permanent does not have the ability to produce a result. Third, there are three: showing craving as the main condition, establishing this by quoting scriptures, only explaining the cause of craving. First, because suffering is not without cause and not a permanent cause, therefore, the craving for the body and enjoyment of existence, which is the name of the arising of afflictions, is the cause of suffering, because, taking humans as an example, beings, with respect to the difference of objects, slightly grasp, namely take all that, are all caused by the thought of wanting to obtain that object, namely craving. If it is said that desire for existence is the cause of suffering, then in short, the arising of suffering

What is the noble truth? It is this craving that leads to rebirth, accompanied by delight and desire, and with great fondness for this and that. For example, craving for desire, craving for existence, and craving for non-existence. If all three cravings are said to be the cause, isn't that contradictory? It is not contradictory. Because as it is said, that is considered "craving for existence." Because beings want to obtain happiness and want to get rid of suffering, so the craving that arises from taking and abandoning is called "craving for desire" and "craving for non-existence" respectively. Therefore, this is the difference between the general and the specific. This is the view of the gods. Shakyamuni believes that pursuing the desire realm is craving for desire, pursuing the upper two realms is craving for existence, and wanting to get rid of suffering is craving for non-existence. Although it is said that way, it is mixed with the Abhidharma and does not conform to the meaning of this treatise. Therefore, ordinary people, these three cravings are the root of existence, the basis of birth in samsara. Because the craving that clings to the self is the cause, the defiled happiness that is not happiness is regarded as happiness, and because of craving for happiness, one will fully invest in and acquire all good and bad realms, therefore it is like this. The second part is divided into two parts: the main text and the elimination of disputes. The first part is: Because no birth without attachment has been seen, the teachers say that attachment is the cause of birth. The teacher Vasubandhu said: Because one has not seen the birth of a person who is free from desire, therefore, birth has the cause of desire. The second part is: The Lokayata says: Then the body will also produce desire, because no desire without a body has been seen, so it is the same. If you say so, then the previous body is considered to be the cause of the later desire, because the cause of the later desire, that is, it is considered to be the co-occurring condition. If so, then it contradicts the previous prohibition of being the cause. Previous body, you are not previously prohibited from being the cause of later desire, because you have only previously excluded being the proximate cause of later desire. If because no birth without attachment has been seen, therefore consider greed
