Because it is a conditioned phenomenon that is made to suffer directly or indirectly by the three sufferings. The second is divided into two: establishing with the sign of clarity from habituation, and establishing with the sign of similar proximate cause. The first is divided into two: stating the reason, and refuting the argument. The first is: The nihilist says, it is unreasonable to be called a samsaric being, because there are no past and future lives. If so, the newborn child, has the habituation of attachment etc. preceding, because attachment etc. arise clearly in his own mindstream. This is pervasive, because in this life, it is seen that later desires etc. arise clearly from the habituation of previous attachments etc. The second is divided into three: refuting the arising of attachment etc. without a cause, refuting the arising from dissimilar causes, therefore establishing that similar causes are the cause. The first is: If attachment etc. do not arise from habituation, then is it without a cause or is there another cause? If it is the former, then attachment etc., are not arbitrary without a cause, because sometimes it is seen to arise. This is pervasive, because if it is without a cause, then arising sometimes is contradictory. The second is divided into two: refuting arising from the cause of disease, refuting arising from the cause of the elements. The first is divided into four: without reversal, so it is not a result; without concomitance, so it is not a result; if it is a result, then it is too much; refuting the argument similar to oneself. The first is: Attachment etc. are not without a cause, but do not arise from habituation, because the three obscurations of ignorance, hatred, and desire arise clearly in sequence from wind, bile, and phlegm. If so, ignorance etc., are not the result of wind etc. in sequence, because there is a reversal of pervasion for these three in sequence, because it is seen that those with a lot of phlegm and no bile have great hatred etc. If at that time the nature of bile is mixed in the phlegm, so there is no fault of confusing hatred with bile, if so, that person with phlegm, why are the qualities of bile, other than hatred, such as yellow skin and foul smell, not seen? It should be seen, because the cause of bile has unimpeded power. If each of wind, bile, and phlegm can produce all three poisons, if so, ignorance etc., are not the result of all of wind etc.

It is not reasonable. If so, then all sentient beings with the same phlegm constitution should have the same attachment. Because they have the same phlegm constitution. This would become a flaw. If it is said that although the four elements are the same, the resulting bodies of sentient beings, etc., are not the same, similarly, although phlegm is the same, the resulting attachment is not the same, so there is no flaw. If it is said that the special good and bad karmas of the bodies of sentient beings, etc., are not born from the dominant causes, but from the four elements themselves, then when bodies, etc., are born from the four elements, sentient beings should have the same bodies, etc., because their cause is the same four elements. Such an argument is the same. The second part has three aspects: establishing the reason, establishing the three modes, and refuting the refutation of faults. First, ignorance, etc., are not the respective immediate causes of wind, etc., because even if wind, etc., have differences in increase and decrease, you, ignorance, etc., do not have differences in increase and decrease. Second, if it is said that the sign is not established, because when bile increases, the body heats up, so it is seen that hatred also increases. This alone does not make the sign unestablished. If so, then all wind, bile, and phlegm should be the immediate cause of hatred, because your changes will cause the body to heat up, thereby increasing hatred. If you admit it, then all wind, etc., will also generate hatred, because everything will equally generate hatred. The root reason has pervasiveness, that is, when the immediate cause of attachment, etc., phlegm, etc., increases, as a result of the immediate cause, attachment, etc., cannot decrease, just as when bile increases, the resulting fever, etc., cannot decrease. If it is said that attachment arises from the balance of the three diseases, and hatred arises from the imbalance, then the root reason is not established. The changes in attachment, etc., caused by the balance and imbalance of the three diseases are not directly born from the three diseases, but from the happiness and suffering caused by the balance and imbalance of the three diseases. The third part has two aspects: questioning the statement of reasons for refuting faults, and separately refuting the two reasons stated. First, if it is said that in general, phlegm is the cause of attachment, but caused by the imbalance of the three diseases
