It does not arise from the proximate cause, because the excellence or inferiority of the body does not directly depend on it, but rather it is transformed into excellence or inferiority by the difference in the increase or decrease of wisdom. Secondly, if it is said that there is no pervasiveness, then for those that rely on external objects such as the light of a lamp, as the subject, this following the increase or decrease of wisdom without the increase or decrease of its own proximate cause does not exist, because they do not depend on the increase or decrease of wisdom, but rather increase or decrease following the increase or decrease of their own proximate cause. Thirdly, the root reason is not established, because clarity or non-clarity of wisdom arises from the strength or weakness of the body. The fact that wisdom and so on become different due to the strength or weakness of the body, this as the subject, is not produced by the strength or weakness of the body directly benefiting wisdom, because the strength or weakness of the body does not benefit the mind consciousness, therefore it does not benefit wisdom, so it is produced by the body indirectly benefiting wisdom. Also, if it is said that attachment and hatred arise from the strength or weakness of the body, so the root reason is not established. At the time of inappropriate attention and certain aggregates, attachment and hatred, etc., increase in sequence with the growth and decline of the body, and this is also the subject, it is not directly produced from the strength or weakness of the body, but rather it is produced from the root consciousness that arises from the pleasure and pain produced by the strength or weakness of the body in sequence. And that pleasure and pain are also close to the difference in the inner tactile sense of the balance and imbalance of the elements produced by the strength or weakness of the body, and from the aggregate of the body's senses arises the cycle of body consciousness. By showing that attachment, etc., do not arise directly from the body, this as the subject, the gathering of epidemics and reliance on alcohol, etc., leading to memory loss and ignorance, etc., are also said not to arise directly from alcohol, etc., because alcohol, etc., produce differences in the inner tactile sense, and the root consciousness that arises from that transforms the mind consciousness, thereby showing the arising of these. Indirect help is also not a proximate cause, for example, the special one of the lineage, some former people said that the sound of a tiger appeared, and the blood, etc., from stabbing others with weapons.

Just as confusion and fear, etc., arise from hearing and seeing, although they arise from these, they are not their direct cause. Fourth, because the body is not the direct cause of mind and consciousness, the mind is characterized by its own nature. The mind depends on the previous mind, because it does not arise without the previous mind, because it is necessarily caused by the habitual actions of the previous mind. The fifth part has three points: refuting the view that body and mind are the same is too absolute; proving the prior existence of inverted desire through the sign of one's own continuum; refuting the view that there is no past or future life just because one has not seen it. The first point is that since it has already been refuted that consciousness is the result of the body, then refuting that the body's ability or merit is: the body is characterized by its own nature. For example, just as the mind that relies on the previous mind and acts on hearing and crafts, etc., will at times manifest the merits of hearing, etc., so too should you manifest the merits of hearing, etc., because you are no different from the mind in which those merits manifest. The second point is that ordinary sentient beings are characterized by their own nature. They previously had the idea of wanting to obtain happiness through attachment to themselves and wanting to abandon suffering, because they would completely accept inferior situations, rather than being forced by other things such as Ishvara. This is universally applicable, because the inverted mind that clings to suffering as happiness, and the desire that binds to birth, are the cause of rebirth. Because if someone does not have these two inverted desires, he will not be reborn. The third point is that if it is said that sentient beings are characterized by their own nature, there is no past or future life, because they have not been seen going to the future life, nor have they been seen coming from the past life, then it is not established that everyone has not seen this. If it is proposed that one has not seen it oneself, then the materialist is characterized by his own nature. Just because you have not seen it, you cannot prove that sentient beings do not come and go, because your senses are not clear, so you have not seen the birth of sentient beings, and not because they do not exist. For example, just as a person with unclear eyes cannot see even a small amount of smoke. If it is said that the sentient beings who accept birth are characterized by their own nature, they will not enter the place of birth without hindrance, because they have a body.
