Although killing and killing a black person are similar, the act of killing a black person is not merely killing a black person. The second case is, is the destruction caused by fire not a different thing from the wood itself? Wood, as the subject, you yourself should become destruction. Because your destruction is also your destruction, which is not a different thing from you. If accepted, then the destruction of wood, as the subject, fire should not be your cause. Because even without fire, you would arise from the cause of wood. The third case is, is the destruction caused by fire neither the same entity nor a different entity from the wood? Wood, as the subject, there is no other form of destruction, either the same or different entity, apart from you, because you are composed of entities. To avoid the extreme consequences in the second argument, there are four points: avoid destruction and things occurring simultaneously, avoid things not being destroyed, avoid similar inferential fallacies, and in this way, other categories are also excluded. The first point is: destruction, i.e., ruin, as the subject, should always exist as an entity, even if it is causeless. If accepted, then the entity of wood and destruction, i.e., the ruin of wood, should exist simultaneously. Because the ruin of wood always exists. If someone says: the destruction of wood, i.e., negation, as the subject, even if it is causeless, should always exist as an entity, which is impossible, because it is not an entity. The second point is: if destruction is not an entity, then it cannot destroy things, therefore things will not be destroyed. For those who believe that destruction is a different entity from things, the inference that things will not be destroyed cannot be used as a refutation, because they do not believe that things are destroyed by a different destruction, but rather that the moment things themselves arise instantaneously from their cause is the destruction. If destruction is a different entity from things, then the destruction of things is causeless, and if this is used as a basis to analyze causelessness, what is the point? Things themselves naturally decay because they do not depend on factors other than the cause of things, and in order to understand this independence, the speculative mind fabricates that things and their destruction are different, even though they are not different, and regards the state of destruction as other causes.

It is said to be characterized by non-existence, and to say that destruction is without cause is to say that there is no cause at all, so there is a difference. Third, if the destruction of the wood, which is without substance, does not depend on its own cause or on other causes, but exists only because the wood itself is established, then is the destruction one with the wood or different? This distinction is the same. If it is different, then the wood will not be destroyed; if it is one, then the wood will not have the slightest arising. If you say so, then the destruction of the wood, as a dharma, from the substance of the wood, neither itself nor otherness will change in the slightest, because it is only that the wood has been destroyed and become non-existent. The distinction of whether a substance is one or different only arises for things that exist substantially, because the establishment of one and different, that is, action, is only related to things that exist substantially. Therefore, the statement that the wood is destroyed and then there is nothing, this statement, is only to deny that it is not a substance, but not to establish other dharmas, so it is neither one nor different from the substance. Therefore, the negation of non-existence after the wood is destroyed, as a dharma, if it would depend on other causes besides the cause of the wood, that is impossible, because for you, the substance of the cause will not have the slightest effect. This is pervasive, if a certain cause has the slightest effect, then it will depend on other causes, if not, then it will not depend. Fourth, showing destruction as non-substantial, as a dharma, there is also another necessity, that is, to eliminate the blame of excessive inference that destruction is without cause. What kind of blame? One destruction, that is, destruction, as a dharma, will be from things that have not arisen, that is, from the beginning of not arising, because it is without cause. If you admit it, then destruction, as a dharma, will become a different existence from sprouts and so on, and it will be destruction itself, because it exists from the beginning. How to eliminate it? Destruction, as a dharma, if it is without cause, then it will not become the three situations such as existing from the beginning, because it is not a substance. Here, the word "destruction" is considered by logicians to refer to the fact that after the wood is destroyed, even if the substance of the wood does not exist, the destruction itself still exists in the form of a substance. Buddhists, on the other hand, consider wood
