Firstly, if someone asks: Then, is it forever impossible for a person who has exhausted their faults to exist? Answer: All phenomena such as attachment have an antidote that is incompatible with them, namely the realization of selflessness. Because if the realization of selflessness increases, then you (attachment, etc.) decrease; and if the realization of selflessness decreases, then you (attachment, etc.) become more prominent. Therefore, some individuals will have all their outflows and afflictions exhausted. This is because through long-term familiarization with the realization of selflessness, the mindstream transforms into the nature of that realization of selflessness. Secondly, if someone asks: Even if faults are exhausted once, will they revert again, just as a mind that previously had faults later becomes faultless? Answer: By familiarizing oneself with the path, one is separated from all the harms of samsara, and therefore there is no harm. Impermanence and so on are objects of their own characteristics, and therefore are the nature of the path of true meaning. For those whose mind's essence has become the antidote to faults, perverted views, that is, non-virtuous thoughts, non-reality, and non-self-nature faults, cannot hinder it. Because it is impossible to see faults in the path and merits in afflictions, one will not strive to abandon the path, and even if one strives, the mind will hold onto the path's realization of selflessness, and will only strive for that. Thirdly, if someone asks: If the increase and decrease of the realization of selflessness causes the increase and decrease of the cause of faults (attachment, etc.), then the cause of faults will become self-grasping, and in that case, it contradicts the statement that ignorance is the cause of faults. Answer: It does not contradict. Because all the faults of samsara arise from the view of the aggregates as a real self, and that view of the aggregates is ignorance. Therefore, there is a reason for saying that the cause of all faults is ignorance. Because under the influence of ignorance, one becomes attached to the self, and from that, one becomes attached to what belongs to the self. From these two attachments, all faults such as hatred arise. In other sutras, the view of the aggregates as a real self is said to be the main cause, because abandoning the view of the aggregates allows one to abandon all faults. Thirdly, establishing the truth through reasoning and sound is also apparent, and this has two aspects: refuting the establishment by the sign of being uncreated by a person, and refuting the establishment by the sign of not deceiving one side. The first aspect has two points: stating the assertion, and explaining the refutation. The first point is reasoning.

Now, the subject matter, it has a true meaning, because it expresses meaning, and it is not made by humans. This is pervasive. The reason why words have false meanings is faults, attachments, etc., and these depend on humans. Therefore, the Vedas do not deceive the meaning expressed, this is what some logicians say. The second part has three aspects: refuting the pervasiveness of the root reason; refuting the root basis by examining it; refuting the thesis of the root reason. The first part has two aspects: refuting with the same reasoning method; refuting by violating the commitment. The first case is: Vedas, as the subject matter, how is it not having false meanings? Because it expresses meaning, and it is not made by humans. This is pervasive. The reason why words are true is the merits of wisdom and compassion, etc., and these depend on humans, this is what other Buddhists say. The second part has two aspects: establishing the refutation; refuting the avoidance of faults. The first case is: the words of the Vedas, as the subject matter, even if your nature is not made by humans, it may show false meanings, because the reason for understanding meaning from you—convention, depends on humans. The second part has two aspects: stating the avoidance of faults; refuting it. The first case is: the reason is not established, because the relationship between the Vedic sound and meaning is not conventionally established by humans, but is established by nature. The second case has two aspects: refuting with absurd inference; refuting by analyzing. The first case is: the Vedic sound, as the subject matter, without understanding the convention, the expressed meaning will be understood from you, because without relying on convention, sound and meaning understand meaning from you through the connection of nature. If it is said that humans clarify the connection of nature through convention, therefore meaning is understood from there. The Vedic sound, as the subject matter, through the connection of convention that you have examined, the connection of nature will not have the ability to understand meaning, because convention can understand meaning, without convention, even if there is a connection of nature, it cannot understand meaning. The second part has three aspects: refuting by examining the expressed meaning; refuting by examining the relationship; for the expressible
