That is, according to the judgment of Lotsawa, it is to know that it belongs to the Abhidhamma Pitaka, as it is said in the Root Wisdom Treatise: "The Dharma of the ultimate truth, the classification of the Abhidhamma." This also establishes the essence of the views of both Sutra and Tantra. Just as it explains the common intention of the three baskets, the translator prostrates to his favorite deity, the purpose is for the complete accomplishment of the translation. The meaning of the author's holy text. First, show the limbs for entering virtue. The second part is divided into three: first, show the limbs for entering virtue; in the middle, explain the text itself for entering virtue; finally, state the greatness of the text. The first part is divided into two: to make offerings to generate faith; show the necessity of composing the treatise. The first part has three things: necessity, summary meaning, and literal meaning. The first is: the author himself realizes as a holy being, and others will therefore enter the treatise he has composed; and, because the ultimate result, the three bodies and activities, is shown, others will enter the treatise whose subject matter is its cause; and, when later students speak and listen, they recite the verses of offering and praise, thereby pacifying their obstacles and perfecting the accumulations—these are the three necessities. The second part has two things: praise and prostration. The first has two things: self-benefit and other-benefit. The first is the three bodies. The third is, to say truthfully, "I prostrate." To whom? To the Buddha who is perfectly endowed with two benefits. What are the two benefits? Self-benefit is, by the power of the antidote to the attachment to self and what belongs to self, or the attachment to the grasped and the grasper, completely, that is, becoming the Dharmakaya of the nature of non-arising; and, residing only in Akanishta and teaching only the Mahayana Dharma to the retinue of the tenth-ground Bodhisattvas, the Sambhogakaya perfected by profundity; and, showing the bodies that subdue whatever is appropriate to the three types of beings, the Nirmanakaya shown by vastness, that is, possessing the three bodies. The two are conjunctions. Other-benefit is that Samantabhadra is higher realms and definite goodness, and the rays of the holy Dharma that show them shine completely.

In the manner of knowing, Samantabhadra is the Buddha. In the manner of "a body radiating various sacred Dharma rays," his rays are his sacred Dharma, and causing them to radiate is a tangible adornment related to the rays. Some Indians also have explanations that associate the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra with it, but the former is more in line with reality. Regarding the second point, it is unreasonable to say that the former mostly expresses the reason for writing for the benefit of others in the first to third verses, and the fourth verse expresses the reason for writing for one's own benefit. As it is said in the Pramāṇavārttika: "Whoever the noble one comes to and blesses, is the virtuous and immaculate wise one. The foolish people of the world cannot understand, because his words are firm and unwavering. Approaching those who make the world prosperous, but even if they slander slightly due to ignorance, it is not desirable to be born, so with compassion, clarify his reasoning." It is said in this way that it is written for the benefit of others. Since the Pramāṇavārttika is written for the benefit of others, and the Pramāṇavārttika Commentary is not written for the benefit of others, then this difference cannot be made by anyone. Therefore, there are two necessities here: the necessity for the benefit of others and the necessity for one's own benefit. The first is to directly show that there is no direct benefit for those who have the faults of the vessel, to imply that there is also indirect benefit for those people, and to show through the power of "also" that there is direct benefit for those who have the qualities of the vessel. The first is that Dharmakīrti, I also did not think that this treatise would be of direct benefit to other listeners, that is, those who have the three faults of the vessel. Because most listeners are attached to vulgar things such as non-Buddhist treatises, and do not have the intellectual ability to understand good sayings, therefore they have the fault of not having wisdom; they do not pursue the meaning of good sayings, therefore they have the fault of not pursuing meaning; not only that, but they also hate the author of good sayings because of the stain of jealousy, therefore they have the fault of not being impartial, and they completely have these three faults. The second is that there will also be indirect benefits for those people, because when they study well and eliminate the three faults of the vessel, there will be direct benefits. This can also be known from the fact that the Pramāṇavārttika is said to be written to eliminate the stain of jealousy. The third is, the treatise
