These sprout-fruits, have the property of arising from various specific conditions. Because when the conditions gather, they arise even without a general principal cause, and because they do not arise even if one of those conditions is missing. The sprout-fruit does not arise from the general principal cause that follows what is clear. Because whatever has the ability to produce the fruit, that is, to generate it, is what truly exists. And what truly exists does not follow anything else. This verse should be understood as negating both the common ground of objects and generality, and the non-pervasion of 'if it has the ability to perform a function, then it truly has the ability to perform a function.' Thirdly, if water, fertilizer, etc., which are different from the seed that produces the sprout, also produce the sprout, then all barley seeds, etc., would become producers of rice sprouts, etc., because there is no difference in being different. If you say that, since it is too extreme if one nature produces, then even though barley seeds and rice seeds are the same in being different entities, some rice seeds, etc., have the property of being the cause of rice sprouts, but other barley seeds are not the cause of rice sprouts. Because this is the nature or dharma of things. Secondly, there are five points to refute that all things have the same nature: Establishing the consequence and refuting the fault-finding. Abandoning similarity in the general that distinguishes. Abandoning what is not the producer of its own characteristic. There is no harm in being produced by many. There is harm in being produced by one. The first is: If all things are one and the same without difference in nature, then the various things that arise successively have the property of becoming simultaneous arising and ceasing. Because they are one substance. If you say that it is not that there is no difference at all, but that they do not become simultaneous arising and ceasing because they exist temporarily differently from the general principal cause, because the temporary is impermanent but the nature is permanent, then the nature of the principal cause has the property of not being the same as the nature of the particular. Because if one particular ceases, you remain without ceasing, that is, because you remain. If you accept that, then the general and the particular become different in meaning, and if that is the case, then the general and the particular have the property of not being able to be said to be 'this is the general of this particular' or 'this is the particular of this general.'

Sound and consciousness will not operate in unison, because they are mutually independent entities. Secondly, if the fault of examining whether the generality disappears when the manifested disappears also applies to the generality of elimination. If the generality of elimination also disappears like one manifested thing disappears, then the remaining manifested things will not have generality. If it does not disappear, then the generality and the particular will become different entities. If someone says that, then here, there are two cases for the generality of elimination: one is to regard the elimination of what is different from non-this as the elimination that exists in all manifested things; the other is to regard the imagined image as the eliminator, and to call it by the name of elimination. If from the first case, then as the opposite of elimination, when one manifested thing disappears, you should not be asked whether you are a thing that exists or does not exist in reality, because you are essentially non-existent. If from the second case, then for the general consciousness that imagines multiple things as one thing, when one manifested thing disappears, there is also no need to refute it by asking whether you are a thing that exists or does not exist in reality, because for you, the external manifested thing is a false consciousness, not the same entity as the external manifested thing. This is the same meaning as "Different from consciousness, how can it follow other things?" Here, Tibetans regard the self-characteristic of things as elimination, regard the negative elimination that is different from non-this as elimination, and regard the imagined image as the direct object of expression of sound, these three cases. If from the first case, then the sentence "Manifested things and arising and ceasing occur simultaneously" needs to be supplemented. If from the second case, then it is the first two sentences. If from the third case, then it is the last two sentences, that is, the general consciousness is the subject. When the generality that you have hypothesized disappears, there is no need to refute it by asking whether it exists in reality, because it is fabricated, so the generality that you yourself have hypothesized is not true. This explanation is because taking the old man's saying as the standard, not understanding the meaning of the scripture. First, supplementation is also unnecessary, because negative elimination covers the elimination of opposites, which has already been prohibited in the general sense. Third, applying it to the generality hypothesized by general consciousness is wrong.
