Possessor of qualities, after you have directly seen the appearances of trees and non-trees separately, the mind that recognizes them as one category through conceptualization, the meaning of its cause, such as wood, and the meaning of the cause that is not recognized as one category, such as stones, without relying on symbols, can distinguish them separately by itself. The mind arises even before the symbol of a tree, because the mind that recognizes wood and the like as one category exists, that is, the appearance of things appears as if it were the external tree that became the cause of that mind, and it appears as if it were not the cause of that mind, separate from the nature of non-trees, and the external trees also appear to be of the same nature and similar. Due to attachment, one's own wood and the like are different from non-trees, so one will understand in one aspect. Afterwards, to the exclusion of others that appear in the cognition that is different from non-trees, the symbolic language "This is a tree" is applied, and the sound applied in this way, at the time of expression, will also reveal the exclusion of others that appears in the mind, so that it can be recognized. The mind at that time also recognizes that the previous and subsequent things are the same due to the illusion of external objects, so there is no generality, and even if the meaning at the time of the symbol disappears, there will be no fault of not being able to understand the meaning at the time of expression. Fourth, the expressive sound, possessor of qualities, is well used in order to liberate the listener's hesitant mind from the sole meaning and enter into some definite meaning, in order to make the listener grasp the desired meaning with certainty. Second, refuting the statement that there is no exclusion without an object to be excluded, if the sound of trees and the like enters through exclusion, then the sound of knowable objects and the like should not enter through exclusion. Because there is no non-knowable object to be excluded, if it is made the object of the mind, it will become knowable, and if it is not made the object of the mind, it cannot be excluded. If it is said that all dharmas are knowable objects, etc., then these words are used in expressions related to other words, for those who cognize, possessor of qualities, there are some things that can cut off the listener's state of hesitation, any language that is used as a meaning expresser, if the listener cannot cut off anything other than cutting off the state of hesitation, then it is a meaning expresser.
