If there is no dependence, then certainty is established. One should avoid excessive inferences about this. Here is a brief explanation of how certainty is established. First, if it is assumed that certainty and dependence are not contradictory, for example, a vase is certain to be destroyed, but the cause of destruction depends on other factors. Then, the destruction of the vase, as the subject, in reality, the vase does not exist at all, because the cause of the vase is born from other causes that arise later. If it is said that from the cause of things, something called "the impermanence that destroys things" arises, thereby causing the destruction of things. Then, the vase, as the subject, from your cause, a different destruction arises, and through it, you are destroyed, what is the use of this indirect way? It is meaningless, because it is reasonable for your destruction to arise from your cause. Furthermore, if the cause of things produces a destruction that is different from the thing, and it is thought that this destruction will not cause the thing to be destroyed. Then, when the cause of things produces the thing itself in a state of destruction, what problem would there be? When asked about this, they answer: This is not a problem for us, but this is not the reality of things. If the destruction caused by other things is the nature of the thing, or is it different from the thing? If it is the former, then that thing, as the subject, what other cause is needed to help its own nature of destruction? It is not needed, because the thing of self-nature has already been completely accomplished by its own cause. If it is admitted that destruction is another thing, then what dependent cause is needed for this destruction as another thing? It is not needed, because it does not help the self-nature destruction of the thing. If it is the latter, then the thing, as the subject, your destruction will become endless, because your cause must produce a destruction that is different from your destruction, and that destruction must also produce a destruction that is different from your destruction. Second, the thing, as the subject, when it exists, how can it not be destruction? This is impossible, because self-destruction arises independently from its own cause. For example, when the thing itself is about to be destroyed, it does not want to depend on anything to stay even for a moment. Third

Then, in an instant, all things would cease to exist. If the destruction of things did not depend on causes, then all things would exist forever, because in the instant of a thing's arising, destruction would become the nature of the thing. If you say this, there is no fault. Because that which decays naturally without depending on other causes is the thing itself, and the non-existence of a thing that has already decayed, how could it decay independently? Therefore, it will not decay. Fourth, those dharmas that exist, arising from their own causes without depending on other causes, are certainly existing dharmas. For example, the action of a fruit, the complete aggregation without hindrance to the production of the fruit, the fruit arises from its own cause without depending on other causes, so it is certain to produce the fruit. Things are also like this, arising from their own causes and decaying without depending on other causes, this is a statement with a subject. This is an inference for others, because it clearly reveals the meaning seen by oneself. Third, in the commentary on the Pramāṇavārttika, the Rays of Samantabhadra, the inference for others, that is, the explanation of the fourth chapter. Third, finally, is the virtue, praising the greatness of the treatise, divided into two: that which is difficult to understand, combined with the example of a river; that which benefits others, combined with the example of the sun. First, the treatise Pramāṇavārttika of Dharmakīrti, for the ocean, is like the four rivers, such as the Ganges, which initially flowed from Lake Mapam Yumtso (མཚོ་མ་དྲོས་པ།), and eventually merged into the ocean itself, it also merges and sinks into my own body of wisdom. Why? Because for beings, it is difficult to find someone like oneself who can grasp this well-spoken word again. Why is that? Because even those with little intellectual capacity cannot understand the profound truth; even those who are extremely diligent cannot see the supreme truth. Second, this treatise is a subject, having the same nature as the sun: skilled in distinguishing right and wrong paths, burning the thickets of evil views, being upheld by the noble ones, and showing the correct path of reason. Possessing a hundred qualities.
