Even if what exists in things is excluded, there is no harm to the thesis of wanting to establish that the dharma, such as space, is merely a permanent entity, because even if what exists in things is excluded, such as space, it can establish that the dharma is merely a permanent entity. Therefore, the so-called "own subject" refers to the subject. If both the appropriate dharma and the subject are taken as the thesis, then any harm to the appropriate subject will be a harm to the appropriate thesis because it prevents the appropriate dharma to be established. Even if it is only a harm to the irrelevant subject, it is not a harm to the appropriate thesis, which is actually shown, because the difference of one's own thesis is also one's own subject, because the mere subject that is not distinguished by the dharma is not the thesis. Second, if the harm to the subject is the harm to the appropriate thesis, then the syllogism set up by the Buddhist for the Samkhya will also become a harm to the thesis. How is it that the Samkhya believes that the chief entity of the nature of happiness etc. is permanent, and the Buddhist establishes happiness etc. as the subject, which is not permanent because it cannot be produced by other causes, because it is not the cause of producing sounds etc. simultaneously, because it produces its own results in sequence. As before, the refuter says, you have prevented happiness etc. from being permanent, and you have taken happiness etc. as the appropriate subject, then, if the reason prevents the nature of the chief entity from being permanent, it will also prevent happiness etc. with nature, so it will establish that the appropriate subject happiness etc. is also non-existent, so it is harmful to the appropriate thesis. If the reason for this syllogism is "because it produces its own results in sequence", if it is certain that it is contrary to the subject, you happiness etc. are impermanent, then it will necessarily become a contradiction of preventing the appropriate subject, because if it is certain that it is contrary to you happiness etc. impermanent, it will establish that the impermanent happiness etc. taken as its own subject is non-existent. Therefore, even if it is so, it is not certain, and for preventing impermanent happiness etc., producing its own results in sequence is the reason.

What is arranged here is the subject. It possesses excess, that is, it is considered an undecided difference, because the property of the subject has been established, and there is doubt as to whether it is withdrawn from the contradictory side related to it. How is that? Because there is no contradiction between the sign functioning sequentially and the impermanence of happiness, etc. Because happiness, etc., are both. Third, what is called "one's own subject" is the subject. The basis of the dharma that the opponent himself wants to establish, that is, harming the subject that one wants to understand, is harming the present establishment. It is revealed that merely the subject itself that is out of place, or harming the basis of other dharma that one does not want, that is, the subject, does not harm the present establishment. Because it is revealed that the dharma that the opponent himself wants to establish is the establishment for the subject. For example, when explaining the characteristic of the thesis, by the word "one's own," harming other dharma that the opponent does not want, such as the meaning of the scriptures, etc., does not harm the present establishment, just like that, by the word "one's own subject," even if harming other subjects that are out of place, it does not harm the present establishment, just like that saying. Fourth, the non-establishment of the basis, etc., is not a fault of the thesis: when explaining the basis of one's own thesis, if it is admitted that harming the subject, the dharma, and both, it will harm the present establishment. If a Buddhist says to a Samkhya, "sound is destructible," like this, the difference is not established, and "I am pervasive," like this, the possessor of difference is not established, and "I am the cause of combination and aggregation," like this, why do the authors of the treatises not say that both are not established, etc., are faults of the thesis? Because it should be said to be a fault of the thesis. If it is said that it harms the establishment of the thesis. The fault of the argument, everything harms the thesis itself that is established by valid cognition, even so, these subjects are not faults of the thesis, because they are not faults related only to the vow. It is pervasive, because the fault related only to making a vow is the fault of the thesis. Therefore, the basis subject, and so on, the dharma is not established, and both are not established, etc., these subjects are not faults of the thesis of that argument, because sequentially they are the reason of that argument, and the example, and both.
