If it is necessary to state refutations through similar differences, eventually there will be no ability to state refutations. So, how is this? Like this, it has already been said that such a prior position is not rational itself. How so? The reciter says, "Because he is a reciter, it is universally present that other reciters precede him," but the righteous sage himself refuted that the Vedas alone are not necessarily recitation. Therefore, he claims that there is a special Veda recitation. When asked what is special, it has already been prevented in the context of saying things like "unable to recite elsewhere." Second, to explain what is to be proven in order to eliminate confusion, there are three points: explaining the definition of what is to be proven in one's own system; refuting the definition of what is to be proven in other systems; and also refuting examples that appear to be plausible. The first point has two points: explaining the necessity of showing the definition; and showing the definition that has necessity. The first point is: If what is to be proven can be understood from the language stating the three modes, then there would be no need to show the definition of what is to be proven from the treatises. Even though stating the three modes of proof itself has the function of understanding what is to be proven, it is necessary to show the definition of what is to be proven from the treatises, as the subject of the proposition, because it is seen that there is confusion in taking the object of desire, etc., as what is to be proven, but it is not in reality, and taking the meaning of the scriptures, etc., as what is not to be proven, but it is in reality, in order to eliminate these confusions. The second point has two points: explaining the four words that establish what is to be proven; and explaining the correct placement that has not been excluded. The first point has two points: showing the four meanings contained in the four words; and explaining the latter two in detail. The first point is: In short, "The essence alone should be shown, one's own intention and not excluded," among the five words spoken, the essence and the suffix "alone," and the words "intention" and "self," as the subject of the proposition, contain the four definitions of what is to be proven in other meanings, that is, in order to grasp: what has not been proven by the opponent; what is not being used as proof; even if it is not said verbally, it has actually been expressed, that is, the object to which the intention is directed; and what the opponent himself has promised as what is to be proven. Why is it said that there is no exclusion here? Because the first four definitions
