It is not so. This is a negation of the very basis for being combined by conceptual thought. The first point is: If sense consciousness sees forms, sounds, etc. as having intervals, but because this consciousness enters quickly, it will mistakenly think that there is no interruption in between. Then, even if two short letters like "A" and "I" are spoken, the auditory mind that hears them, which is the subject, will mistakenly think that there is no interruption in between and that they are together, because of the quickness of entry. The second point is: Furthermore, when hearing a letter, is the imputation of no interruption to the knowledge that has prior and subsequent intervals done by the sense consciousness itself? Or by another mind? If according to the first case, even if the sense consciousness sees the meaning of the interval in the manner of experiencing it, then, from the sense consciousness itself, the imputation of no interruption, which is the subject, is not permissible, because there is the fault of being too extreme. How so? All sense consciousnesses, which are the subject, become inverted, because they themselves experience the interval, but others impute that there is no interval. The explanation of this is that the ultimate nature of a letter, that is, the very short "A," also, which is the subject, has many parts of prior and subsequent moments, because it exists for the duration of a blink of an eye, and it is not complete with anything shorter than that. And the blink of an eye is also completed by gradually associating with many atoms placed one on top of the other in one position. The time it takes for one extremely small atom to move from its previous position to another position is the shortest time, the ultimate of shortness, and that is considered to be the measure of a moment at the limit of time. Therefore, the mind that hears also, which is the subject, will gradually realize the parts of the letter, because whatever auditory knowledge that grasps the prior and subsequent parts of the letter arises and ceases with a moment at the limit of time. Therefore, all sense consciousnesses that grasp letters and forms, etc., which are the subject, will become those with mistaken meanings, because when grasping their own objects, although another mind that experiences it thinks there is an interruption, it is because it is a consciousness that appears to have no interruption. The third point is: The illusion that the prior and subsequent sense consciousnesses have intervals, but appear to have no intervals, although the sense consciousness is an illusion, it does not mix the prior and subsequent, therefore, from outside the sense consciousness, that is, other knowledge, those things that have intervals of prior and subsequent moments, that is, that this

The wisdom that connects and mixes without interruption in this way is characterized by conceptualization, because it presents the difference between the prior and subsequent moments of things, that is, it is a memory that causes illusion because it lacks realization. Therefore, for that conceptualization, it is a dharma. How could long letters, etc., be the sense consciousness that appears intermittently? It is not, because it is related to speech, that is, it holds by combining name and meaning. This is pervasive. Because it has already been said that the sense consciousness that clearly holds letters, etc., does not actually combine sound with the object it grasps, so it is. The fourth part has three points: knowing the meaning without interruption has no harm. After examining the meaning of the scriptures that harm, explain it in another way. In this way, the recognition of self-characteristics as direct perception is refuted. The first point is: If the sense consciousness sees the object in a way that is interrupted by other experiencers, then the subsequent conceptualization will connect without interruption, is that so? Meaning, form, etc., are dharmas. From where does the consciousness that you hold, which is said to be interrupted and produced by other experiencers, come from? It is not, because you and its experience, that is, the consciousness that you hold, appears continuously, and there is no harm from valid reasoning for what exists as it appears. The second point is: If it is not established that there is no harm, because the wisdom that knows the meaning has no self-awareness, it must be known by other wisdoms, and those cannot arise simultaneously, because it is certain that each previous wisdom has the ability to generate each subsequent wisdom, is that so? Asking from which valid cognition it is established that multiple wisdoms do not arise simultaneously, the answer is: Because multiple wisdoms are not seen simultaneously. Not seeing multiple wisdoms simultaneously is itself a dharma. It is not a reason for not having multiple wisdoms simultaneously, because there may be interruption, but the interruption is not seen, like this, although there are multiple wisdoms arising simultaneously, they are not seen, this is what should be examined. Moreover, the scriptures say: Two minds arising simultaneously are impossible, there is no opportunity. Does this harm the simultaneous arising of multiple wisdoms? That scripture is a dharma. Not having multiple wisdoms arise simultaneously is not your intention, because your intention is that those wisdoms are of the same kind, each previous wisdom is only each subsequent wisdom.
