Therefore, it is not for other reasons. There are three points in the second aspect: if there is similarity, then self-awareness is established; even similarity itself cannot be established; if there is no similarity, then it is too extreme. The first point is: even if the object and consciousness are not understood simultaneously, there is no fault as just mentioned, because the consciousness that sees blue and other objects through whatever means arises similarly to the object blue and so on, and it is for that which is seen by other minds that there is the saying, "This consciousness sees this object." If it is said like this, then, this consciousness that sees the object, is the subject to be proven, it should be established as self-awareness, because it is a consciousness similar to the object. Furthermore, the consciousness that manifests the object, is the subject to be proven, how can it understand the other nature of the object without understanding it? If you ask why, it is because it does not understand its own essence. If it is thought that experiencing the object comes from being similar to the object, then, experiencing the object from being similar to the object, this is also the subject to be proven, it is unreasonable, because all similarities are mutual, which has already been completely refuted before. The second point is: the consciousness after the object-knowing that is similar to the object, is the subject to be proven, how can it be certain that the object form and so on are similar to the consciousness that sees it? It is impossible to be certain, because the object form and so on have not been seen before. This is pervasive, generally speaking, if both the similar and the place of similarity are seen, then they are the ones holding the similarity, and not for other reasons. The third point is: for those who do not admit that there is no self-awareness, and that consciousness is similar to the object, is the subject to be proven, neither the object nor the consciousness is seen, because there is no self-awareness, and there is no consciousness similar to the object. If it is admitted, then, where would there be the saying, "This is the object, this is the consciousness"? Because when the object and consciousness are not established by valid cognition, there is no way to make a name that conforms to the meaning. The second aspect is: if it is said that the white and so on that appear clearly in the sense consciousness are the essence of the consciousness itself, then, the consciousness that holds white and so on, is the subject to be proven, it should become very clear itself, that is, self-aware, because what appears clearly to itself is the essence of the consciousness itself. Furthermore, the mind that manifests white and so on, is the subject to be proven, it is self-aware or self-illuminating, because if the object appears clearly, and itself is not clear, then the object is not clear, which would lead to the object not appearing clearly.

To refute that consciousness is not a direct perception and to establish (direct perception), there are two: refuting with the previous reasoning, and refuting with other reasoning. The first: In the school that consciousness is not self-aware, it is impossible to see all things and knowledge, because... This reasoning also answers any Vaibhashika who believes that mind is not established by direct perception but is hidden, because the obstructing reasoning is the same. The second has two: establishing that it is a direct perception with reason, and if it is not a direct perception, there are too many faults. The first has two: establishing the thesis, and eliminating the unestablished. The first: The experience of differences such as pleasure, pain, desire, and anger in one's own continuum is the subject. It is consciousness, because it depends on the dominant conditions such as the eye faculty, the object of focus such as pleasant and unpleasant objects, and the differences in habitual attention, resulting in different aspects such as joy and sorrow. Therefore, pleasure, pain, etc., are the subject, and it is established as self-aware direct perception, because it is what is felt, so it is established that there is a feeler, and there is no measure that knows from outside of that (feeler) an entity different by way of feeling. The second has two: stating the opponent's view, and explaining the refutation. The first: It is not established that there is no other feeler of pleasure, etc., because it is established as feeling pleasure, etc., merely by another consciousness knowing. If so, the second has two: the fault of one's own pleasure, etc., being felt by others, and the fault of yogic direct perception feeling suffering. The first has two: establishing the fault, and refuting the other's answer. The first: Other individuals also, from that (individual) other than their continuum of pleasure, etc., will become enjoyment, that is, the fault of feeling, because it is possible to know the pleasure, etc., of other continuums. The second has two: refuting the difference between having or not having similar individuals, refuting the difference between having or not having direct perception. The first: If the consciousness that holds the pleasure, etc., of other continuums is not feeling pleasure, etc., because it is not born from pleasure, etc., nor does it appear as pleasure, etc. It is pervasively established, because only the consciousness that is born from pleasure, etc., and appears as pleasure, etc., is knowing, that is, feeling pleasure, etc., if so.
