If you ask because there is no reason, if the mind is not born as the object of blue etc., then the consciousness that appears as blue etc. is the subject. How can it be experiencing the object, and how can it not be experiencing the object? Because it is not born as the aspect of the object. Therefore, when the self-nature of the consciousness itself experiencing the apprehended aspect is proven to be without the reason of being similar to the object, then the experience of the apprehended aspect of this consciousness is the subject. For it, what can the object, that is, being similar to the object, accomplish? It is only established as being born as the nature of experiencing itself, that is, because it can measure. Third, if consciousness is established as experiencing the object because it is similar to the object, is it similar in all its nature or in some parts? If it is the former, consciousness is the subject. It will become not consciousness, because if it is similar to matter in all its nature. If it experiences the object by being similar to the object in some parts, then all eye consciousnesses etc. are the subject. It will become experiencing all sounds etc., because it is similar to sounds etc. in some parts. Fourth, just as the consciousness that appears as blue etc. is considered to experience blue etc. because it is the nature of blue etc., that is, because it is born as the aspect of blue etc., so the later blue apprehension is the subject. It will also become experiencing the previous blue apprehension, because it is the experience, that is, because it is born as the aspect of the nature of the previous blue apprehension. Fifth, if you say that even if there is a similar arising for it, but because the later blue apprehension experiences, that is, it does not lead to the certainty that one sees blue etc. after seeing the object blue etc., so there is no fault of the later blue apprehension experiencing the previous blue apprehension. Then, for the consciousness that apprehends the continuous appearance of the object blue etc., it is also the subject. It will become not experiencing blue etc., because there is no certainty of the constant arising of the certainty that one experiences blue etc., because it is possible that the mind is distracted to other objects. If you say that there is a definite understanding for the consciousness that apprehends the object, because the cause of having a definite understanding is the similar arising from the object. Then, the later blue apprehension is the subject. For the experience, relative to the previous blue apprehension, why do you not have the definite understanding that you experience the previous blue apprehension? It should be, because it is a similar arising from the previous blue apprehension.

In short. Second, analyze and demonstrate the phenomenon of the appearance of white and so on, divided into two parts: first, by examining the meaning of appearance to ask; second, respectively refute the two extremes of the question. The first part is: In order to prove self-awareness, there are other reasons, that is, when seeing white, yellow, etc. in the eye consciousness, what is the phenomenon of the appearance of white and so on, which is clearly apparent, for the self and other awareness? Is it a real thing other than the consciousness that clearly appears white and so on? Or has it been transformed into the self-nature of consciousness itself? This is the examination. The second part is divided into two parts: if it is another thing, it is too extreme; if it is self-nature, then self-awareness is established. The first part is divided into two parts: consciousness cannot make things appear, and it is impossible to determine seeing things. The first part is: If according to the first case, then the consciousness that appears white is the subject, how can it appear white and so on, and will not change? Because it does not appear itself, because for itself, the things that appear are real things different from itself. This is the pervasion relationship, if consciousness is proved to be apparent, then things should also appear, if it does not appear itself, then consciousness must not appear all things. If it is said that the consciousness that appears white and so on does not appear itself, but the appearer produced later, other consciousness will make it appear, then, the consciousness that appears white and so on is the subject, your appearer will become endless, because you need the second consciousness to appear, and the second consciousness also needs the third consciousness and so on to appear. The second part is divided into two parts: stating the inference, refuting the defense. The first part is: consciousness is the subject, it is impossible to know "This is the seeing of white and so on", that is, white and so on itself and the seeing consciousness are associated at the same time. Because, for example, white and the consciousness that holds white, in the two of things and consciousness, when one side understands things, the other side consciousness is impossible to be seen. Admit this reason. If you admit it, then consciousness is the subject, how can the thing white be distinguished and held by the consciousness that holds white? Because it does not know the relationship between the thing white and the thing-holder. This is the pervasion relationship, when things and consciousness are seen to be related at the same time, it can be determined that "this thing is seen by this consciousness".
