That is the self-awareness fruit of experience, because it is knowledge. Third, if the aspect of grasping or what can be self-experienced is valid cognition, then is it contradictory to what the teacher Dignāga said about self-awareness being valid cognition? Dharma of Dignāga, here, the aspect of grasping and the very ability to be experienced are said to be valid cognition, and your saying that self-awareness is valid cognition is not contradictory, because you say that knowledge, with the name of the aspect of grasping itself, the part of the self that completely cuts off knowledge itself, that is called the very ability to be self-experienced, and the term valid cognition, which is called self-awareness, is said to be excellent in the part of self-awareness. In short, previously, the aspect taken is the object to be measured, the aspect of grasping is valid cognition, the measure-fruit of self-awareness as the fruit, for that aspect, from the perspective that the aspect is true, it is considered that the object taken is knowledge, therefore the nature of self-awareness is considered the fruit, from the perspective that the aspect is false, the object taken is not true in meaning or knowledge, therefore the imputed of self-awareness is considered the fruit. Therefore, with "For that, wisdom is completely cut off," etc., the measure-fruit of the self-awareness nature of the sect that the aspect is false is determined, meaning that whatever wisdom is, if it is taken as the object to be measured, then it is established. Second, there are two explanations of the proof of that establishment: explaining the reasoning of proving the two modes, and explaining the reasoning of proving self-awareness. The first is divided into two: explaining and proving the object consciousness and that consciousness, and explaining and proving the later memory. The first is divided into seven: proving through the difference of having or not having doubt, proving through the difference of many or few aspects, proving through the sign of certainty of perceiving together, proving through the difference of clear and unclear sense powers, proving through the appearance of the mandala aspect even though it does not exist, proving through the three differences of near, far, and middle, and proving that even if the object taken disappears, there is still appearance. The first is divided into two: for the object, proving that the aspect of the object arises, and for the non-object, proving that the aspect of the object appears. The first is, if you accept wisdom as two modes, thereby establishing the three of measure-fruit and object to be measured, then how are the two modes themselves established? In short, "The difference between object consciousness and that consciousness is the very two modes," in the meaning of what is said, there are two reasonings of the author of the root text himself, and five reasonings of the author of the treatise, a total of seven, the first is, object, form

All the various consciousnesses arising from sounds, etc., are the subject of the proposition. Even if the eye, etc., are your (consciousness's) cause, they will still generate the image of the object, and not other images. This is because it is a natural law that you (consciousness) generate the image of the object. For example, food, time, actions, and parents, etc., are the causes of a child's birth, but the child will take on the appearance of one of the parents, and not the appearance of other things like food. Therefore, objects, such as form, etc., are the subject of the proposition. Even if the object is the same as the eye, etc., and the cause of that consciousness, consciousness is considered to be the object of knowledge in terms of the part that arises with its image, because without that part that arises with its own image, it would not become the object of knowledge like the eye and mind, and it is the object of knowledge. Therefore, the mind is two-fold in how it appears as the image of the object. The second part is divided into two points: because it is meaningless, there is no doubt about the absence of an image. Refuting others who believe it has meaning. The first point is: For minds and sense consciousnesses that are related to meaning and are not mistaken, there may be doubts about the absence of a meaningful image, because they may mistakenly believe that they are directly grasping the meaning itself. Even so, the conceptual thought that grasps past objects (such as vases, etc.) is the subject of the proposition. Because it appears as both object and subject, it is established as having two aspects. Because appearing as object and subject exists, and what appears as the object is not something other than itself, because the object that it grasps has ceased, and it is not another object. Therefore, that mind is the subject of the proposition. It is also established as self-awareness, because it itself has two aspects. The second part is divided into five points: Refuting the idea that it is related to the meaning of the category, refuting the idea that it is related to the meaning of the unrelated, refuting the idea that it is related to the meaning different from that, refuting the idea that the image arises from the meaning, refuting the idea that the image is different from consciousness. The first point is: In the conceptual thought of remembering the past, the clarity of the past object has disappeared, so it does not appear, but because the meaning of the category has not disappeared and exists, it appears. If it is said that the mind itself is not established as the two aspects of appearing as the object, then, for the consciousness of remembering past blue, etc., what appears is the subject of the proposition. The color blue, etc., is not the meaning of the category that is not related to that, because blue, etc.
