Third, if one experiences external objects, it goes too far. In order to avoid that fault, one refutes them in order. Therefore, self-awareness becomes the result. First, is the external object hidden, like in the Sutra School? Like in the Mind-Only School, although external objects exist nominally, the valid cognition of the object's appearance, the dharma, how does one experience the self-awareness of one's own mind, such as wanting or not wanting, and one must establish that from that self-awareness, the object is also determined to be of the nature of wanting or not wanting, etc. The object does not experience the nature of self-awareness as it is. If it were so, then one object would become the nature of many things, such as wanting or not wanting, because wanting or not wanting appears in the minds of different people. This is because there is a fault. Second, if one admits that one object is also of the nature of many things, such as wanting or not wanting, is there no fault? Then, for two people who see wanting or not wanting separately in one object, the dharma, it will not be that each one experiences wanting or not wanting separately, but each one will also experience both wanting and not wanting, because that object can appear to you as both wanting and not wanting. If you say that because unseen karma obscures either wanting or not wanting, each one does not experience both, then the minds of different viewers, the dharma, will not realize the object as it is because of the power of the object, because the object has both wanting and not wanting, and you realize only one of them. Furthermore, that unseen karma, the dharma, how can it make one see the object as it is? It certainly cannot, because it makes one see an object that has many things, such as wanting or not wanting, as only one nature. If you say that the appearance of wanting and not wanting in one object is conceptual thought, and not the object is sense consciousness, so sense consciousness grasps the object as it is, then for that sense consciousness, the dharma, it is not that one object does not appear as many, because just as one object appears as five due to the power of death omens and yellow eyes, etc., without connection, later one sees one object as another form. Third, because the object exists, but is not experienced as it is, therefore the valid cognition of the object's appearance, the dharma, external

If it is admitted that external objects are measurable, it should also be considered that only personal experience is the result. Because, if the nature of consciousness appears as wanting or not wanting, etc., then the external object is also determined to be wanting or not wanting, etc., because there is actually no personal experience. The second part has four points: distinguishing the two aspects as valid and invalid; establishing the argument that the apprehended aspect is valid; avoiding the transformation of both the valid and the result into other objects; and avoiding the contradiction with the statement that object-consciousness is the result. The first point is: If the external object is the measurable and self-consciousness is the result, then will the grasping aspect become valid? Answer: When the external object is taken as the measurable, the subject, the apprehended aspect that appears as the object itself is valid, but the grasping aspect is not valid, because this is the case of taking the external object as the measurable. This is pervasive, even if the nature of grasping, that is, the aspect exists, it does not need to depend on taking the external object as the measurable, because the object is not an external object. The object, here nominally is object-consciousness, but if analyzed, self-consciousness is the result of both. At that time, the apprehended aspect can establish both, and the grasping aspect cannot establish object-consciousness even nominally, because it is only facing inward consciousness. This is its meaning. The second point is: The consciousness of the object aspect, the subject, the aspect that appears to itself is nominally called the object-consciousness of consciousness. But it is not so, the nature of the object does not actually appear, because how the nature of the object's aspect exists in consciousness, that is, appears, then the object is also determined to be pure or impure, etc. This is pervasive, because the aspect is the nature of consciousness. Therefore, the argument for the imputation of object-consciousness is similar to the object existing in the mind, and the function of the object similarity, nominally is object-consciousness, and analysis is self-consciousness, because how the object's aspect exists in the mind, that is, how it appears, then the aspect also clearly appears as the self-consciousness of consciousness. The third point is: Then, when the external object is taken as the measurable, the valid and the result
