Because it is a definite object. Here, the deity says, "If the mind is of that nature." This is taking the Sautrāntika's view as primary, and the Tibetans follow it, which is not bringing out the power of the teachings of the upper and lower treatises, because the former establishes self-awareness as the result by negating the external object that creates the appearance; the latter establishes self-awareness as the result by negating that the appearance itself is the external object, because it appears in each different situation. Otherwise, the situation of negating the external object to establish self-awareness would become a repetition. Then, if the Vaibhāṣikas do not accept that the appearance of an object arises in the mind, how should the phrase "the mind is of that nature" be applied? It is not that they do not accept appearance at all, because they believe that all minds and mental factors have appearances. It is not that there is no difference from the Sautrāntikas, because for the knowledge that manifests an object, the Sautrāntikas believe that the appearance of the object that arises is the nature of the knowledge, while the Vaibhāṣikas believe it is the nature of the object. Therefore, establishing two aspects in this case is also establishing two aspects that have become the nature of one mind, and it should be known that it is not simply establishing two aspects. Do not follow the tracks of a rabbit, but organize the great treatises above and below and contemplate. If it is said that the cause, the external object, is established by the sign that the result, consciousness, sometimes reverses, then the mind that manifests fire is the subject, and whether it arises or not is definitely determined by whether or not the previous activator of its own habit is present, but it is not definitely determined by relying on the external object, fire, because in this case of speaking of Vijñānavāda, some previous entering consciousnesses strongly activate the habits of some later entering consciousnesses. The third reason is that there is no independent external object. For a single knowledge that manifests an object, as the subject, there is the appearance of two aspects, the grasper and the grasped, which are defiled by ignorance, because one experiences oneself as having the appearance of two aspects, and later remembers it in the same way. In this way, the knowledge that manifests an object, as the subject, of these two appearances, the appearance of the grasped is measurable, the appearance of the grasper that completely cuts it off is valid cognition, and the self-awareness that experiences it is the result, because it is a knowledge with two aspects. Here, the deity said that this is the first result cognition.

Regarding the views of the Vijnanavada school. Second, the explanation of the nominal meaning and reasoning of valid cognition and result is divided into three parts: the reality of valid cognition and result, the establishment of the object to be measured, and the establishment of the result. First, at any time, when one wants to establish that the cause of the Vijnanavada consciousness, which appears as meaning in name, is the meaning of an external object different from consciousness, when one wants or does not want to establish it, the consciousness that appears as meaning has the characteristic of being a phenomenon. In name, it is the result of meaning and reasoning, because the aspect of wanting or not wanting the meaning of an external object, which has not become an entity, is established as experiencing meaning through the way of experiencing the meaning of an external object as wanting or not wanting it. Here, Lha (自在天,Śrīdeva, Śrīdeva, Lord of Gods) declared that the object to be measured of meaning is the second fruit of realization that has become the result of meaning and reasoning. This is the view of the valid cognition and result of the nominalists of the Vijnanavada school. If one does not understand this meaning, compares this with the meaning of the first valid cognition and result, and then explains the following two verses as comparing the meaning of the second valid cognition and result, this is like decorating the throat with bad ornaments, because the establishment of meaning and reasoning in name is the same in both the upper and lower cases. The cause of Vijnanavada is another object, which is also the case in name, and it has the same meaning as what is said about the objective condition that appears in the object of observation. Second, at any time, the aspect that consciousness itself does not grasp is established as the meaning of the external object. In order to establish name, consciousness is established as if it has another object. When it appears as an object but is empty of meaning, it has the characteristic of being a phenomenon. It is reasonable to establish the external object as the object to be measured, because consciousness becomes its own nature, and as the object to be experienced, the grasping aspect is precisely distinguished as the meaning of the external object by the subsequent definitive consciousness, that is, it is adhered to and established. Third, if this consciousness that appears as meaning has the characteristic of being a phenomenon. In name, it can become the result of meaning and reasoning. If one experiences the aspect of wanting one's own nature and the other aspect of not wanting, then experiencing the aspect of wanting or not wanting will also become understanding the meaning of the external object in name, and this is how it will be established. Third, the external object exists, but establishing self-awareness as the result is divided into three parts: establishing self-awareness as the result. Establishing the grasping aspect as valid cognition. Establishing the external object as another object to be measured. First,
