Because it is not a multitude that has already become. Furthermore, the limbs of a cow and the dharma that is a cow, there is no difference and having difference in meaning, because difference and having difference are established by the power of what one wants to say, for example, sometimes saying "a cow with horns," and sometimes saying "horns with a cow." Therefore, that dharma that is a cow, when distinguishing and holding it with its own limbs, it can only be distinguished and held by the single limb that is regarded as a limb, it is impossible to distinguish and hold it with multiple limbs, because it is impossible to hold its own multiple limbs simultaneously. Fourth, the fallacy that multiple things cannot be known as other, there are two aspects to this: establishing the thesis and refuting the defense. First, the consciousness that holds a vase, felt, etc., even if it sees that the vase, felt, etc. are different, it will become one consciousness, and cannot distinguish them, because the vase, felt, etc., from the perspective of their own nature, do not rely on characteristics, and are not distinguished from other things, and the characteristics, qualities, etc. that establish the vase, felt, etc. as different, are also not held together with the vase, felt, etc., because multiple things cannot be held simultaneously. Second, if it is said that previously only the substance of the vase, felt, etc. was held, and later only the differences such as qualities and universals were held, therefore the vase, felt, etc. are multiple, that is, they are recognized as different, then, even if it can be like this, but one consciousness, the relationship between these limbs such as qualities and their possessor of limbs will become confused, that is, it will not be known which possessor of limbs these limbs are limbs of, because the limbs and the possessor of limbs are not held simultaneously. Fifth, other schools also have the situation of holding multiple things simultaneously: in the Samkhya school, the sense consciousness, it is also established that it holds multiple things simultaneously, because each of the five sounds, etc. is also a multitude possessing the nature of the three: atoms, darkness, and mind, so it holds them simultaneously. If it is said that the thesis is not established, because atoms, darkness, etc. are not held, then, the sense consciousness, it is not permissible to hold the arrangement of atoms, etc., sounds, etc., because the atoms, etc. with the arrangement are not held, that is, without holding the fingers, one cannot

As it is held. Second, there are two ways to refute arguments that are harmed by reason: Multiple differences are not the objects of sense consciousness, and the objects of sense consciousness are not what is expressed by sound. First, in the verse: 'The nature of multiplicity cannot be realized by the senses.' There are two explanations of this meaning: establishing the dharma of multiple natures, and showing that it is not the object of sense consciousness. First, the dharma, such as sound, is the dharma, and it is the nature of multiple differences. Because any difference from non-created, permanent, etc., is taken as the cause, the differences of created, impermanent, etc., are distinguished by discrimination. Because it is different from all non-created, permanent, etc., it abides in the meaning of difference. Second, the various natures of difference that are measured by discrimination, which appear to discrimination, are dharmas. They do not appear in various ways to the non-discriminating sense consciousness, because sometimes they are not the objects of sense consciousness. You are an imputation, and sense consciousness engages with the self-character of things. Second, if it is said that sense consciousness is a discrimination that takes the general appearance of white, etc., as its object, then in response to that, in the verse: 'The nature of what is known by each name is not shown to be the object of the senses.' There are three explanations of this meaning: establishing the reason, establishing pervasion, and establishing the property of the subject. First, even if it is assumed that the actual meaning of the general sound of white, etc., exists, the direct perception of the senses is a dharma. How is the white, etc., that is the object of your activity? It is not actually expressed by sound, because the nature of knowing of you and the discrimination arising from sound are different in terms of the clarity and obscurity of their respective objects. Second, if it is said that although the minds of sense consciousness and the discrimination arising from sound are the same in meaning, i.e., the object, they become different in terms of the clarity and obscurity of their respective objects because they rely on different sense organs and minds in sequence, and not because the actual objects are different, then now the five sense consciousnesses of the ear, etc., are dharmas. What is the meaning of different objects? It should not be the case, because although the object is the same, the different appearances arise from the difference of the basis, so it is the same.
