If so, the teacher's statement that the property of the subject must be ascertained for both the proponent and the opponent, and that one should speak appropriately about the presence or absence of similar instances, contradicts the above statement. Its meaning is that just as the property of the subject not being established for either the proponent or the opponent, or being uncertain, or the basis not being established, is a fault of the basis, so too, for cases based on the established property of the subject, faults such as the basis not being established in the counter-pervasion, or not being established in either the forward or reverse pervasion, are also faults. If someone says that because the teacher said "appropriately," he did not say that being uncertain about the counter-pervasion is a fault, it is not the case that he did not say that the basis not being established in the counter-pervasion is a fault, but it is not that he did not say that being uncertain about the counter-pervasion is not a fault. Because immediately after that, he said that ascertaining either one is what establishes or refutes, and not saying that either one is established or uncertain. Because the teacher said so, otherwise it would become saying contradictory things. The fifth example is that in proving whether sound is permanent or impermanent, the uncommon characteristic of the subject of debate is 'audible,' the subject. It should be established that it turns back from both permanent and impermanent. Because it is merely not seen in both. If you accept, then that subject becomes a reason that can distinguish between permanent and impermanent for sound, because whether you set up sound as the proof of permanent or impermanent, it is complete with the property of the subject and the counter-pervasion. If you accept, then the teacher's statement that 'audible itself, in whatever way, becomes a distinguishing reason' is contradictory. If you say that it cannot prevent both, and if it prevents both, then because another valid cognition harms it, since negating one contradiction on one basis necessarily establishes the other, therefore it is incomplete because it does not have an object that is not harmed. If this is the case, then it should be established that merely not seeing the dissimilar side does not establish necessary absence. Just as on audible sound, preventing both permanent and impermanent is harmed by another valid cognition, similarly, merely not seeing the dissimilar side of another reason, it is possible that establishing necessary absence is also harmed by another valid cognition. The sixth example is that the Vaibhashikas want to establish the feeling of indifference of touch as the quality of only wind, so

Regarding the seen earth, water, and fire, they do not possess the feeling of equanimity in touch because the feeling of equanimity in touch is not seen. This reason, as a subject, should be free from the fallacy of reverse pervasion. Because in the contradictory side, it is merely not seen. If accepted, then the teacher said in "The Differentiation of Wind": "If merely not seeing prevents the touch of those who see, then that is also unreasonable." This contradicts it. Secondly, if merely not seeing establishes non-existence, then the remaining mangoes that are similar in shape to the mangoes that possess special taste and potency, as subjects, should possess special taste and potency because they are mangoes. When this is stated, the mango as a subject, should completely fulfill its reverse pervasion. Because for its establishment, in the contradictory side, it is merely not seen. If accepted, then the reason for its establishment should be correct. Because the property of the subject and the pervasion of its establishment are complete. It cannot be accepted, because from the differences in the goodness or badness of the place and the good deeds done, etc., the substance of the mango appears different in terms of potency and taste, etc. Therefore, seeing that one mango possesses a special taste and potency, it is not reasonable to conclude that other mangoes also possess that special taste and potency. Thirdly, is whatever reason that does not perceive the contradictory side, solely the reason that establishes the absence of the contradictory side, or is it not? Because in general, not perceiving that phenomenon does not thoroughly establish that the phenomenon does not exist. The reason is accepted, because the Particularists assert that there is a self in the living body, the Materialists assert that there is knowledge in the earth, and the Enumerators, included by the word "etc.", assert that the effect exists in the cause even though it is not perceived. There are four aspects to the third point: If there is a connection, the opposite is established. If there is no connection, there is no going or coming. The way the connection is shown in the example. Through this way, the pervasion of the refuting reason is established. First, merely not seeing does not establish the opposite, therefore, the essence of what is taken as the reason, which is merely existence and the essence of the reason that is inherently related, merely becomes the opposite of the established phenomenon, and the essence of the reason will be reversed accordingly. For example, for what is made, the impermanence that is inherently related to it is reversed, and what is made is also reversed. The word "also" introduces the following content, that is, the cause taken as the reason is the opposite of the established phenomenon.
