It is necessary to acknowledge the connection. If denying the connection establishes contradiction, it is too extreme. This is to demonstrate that pervasion is established by virtue of connection. The first point is: Dignāga, the logician, you hold that to make a reason a correct reason, it is necessary to acknowledge the essential connection. Because if there is no connection, then as the cause of proof, for that reason, the property of the subject is not established, and the opposite meaning, i.e., contradiction, and the contradictory over-pervasion of the same aspect, and confusion, i.e., the common uncertain, and the correct over-pervasion of the same aspect, and the antidote to the uncommon uncertain, in sequence are the property of the subject, concomitance, and counter-pervasion, therefore, it is necessary to determine all three modes of reasoning by the power of valid cognition, because the Compendium on Valid Cognition states, "Whatever is completely established for both is proof." Both are the subject of dispute and the similar class, and complete establishment is certain, for that reason. Some also explain that Dignāga said it that way. The second point has three: refuting by contradicting one's own school's scriptures, refuting by common perception and inference, refuting by contradicting the commitments of other schools. The first point has six: counter-pervasion should not be stated, over-pervasion is not confusion, having life is proof, doubt is a reason, what is heard is refuted in both, refuting touch is reasoning. The first point is: Master Īśvarasena and others hold that merely not seeing in the dissimilar class establishes the opposite, and they also think that the master also holds this. Then, in the "Door of Reasoning," for the antidote to confusion and uncertainty, it is necessary to explain to the opponent the reasoning of establishing counter-pervasion in dissimilar examples, what is the use of that? That should become meaningless. If it is said that merely not seeing in the dissimilar class is the result or necessity of cognition, then, that necessity will be understood even if you do not mention it. If you think so, then, in the "Door of Reasoning," for the antidote to contradiction and uncertainty, it is necessary to say both temporarily, this is called reason, this contradicts that. If it is said that even if merely not seeing can be understood, it is necessary to say it in order to determine that there is no absence in the dissimilar class. If not seeing alone cannot understand absence, then the reason does not have the property of absence in the dissimilar class.

Even with statements establishing reverse pervasion on similar examples, subject, from you, that reason does not necessarily establish that it definitely does not exist on the dissimilar side, because you only state that you have not seen that reason on the dissimilar side, and do not state the reasoning for its non-existence. If it is the same for you, then, if, as when the words establishing reverse pervasion on dissimilar examples are stated, subject, you are understood to mean that the reason does not exist on the dissimilar side, and you state the reasoning for the reason's non-existence on the dissimilar side, i.e., the reason, dharma, and nature connection, then the statement of proof is faultless. Explaining the meaning of "stating dissimilar dharma" as a statement of proof combined with dissimilarity, because it must be admitted that from the words "the reason does not exist on the dissimilar side" it is understood that the reason does not exist on the similar side, it contradicts the preceding and subsequent treatises that prohibit the establishment of meaning from words, and it is understood from the words that it cannot become an antidote to delusion. Second, if merely not seeing the reason on the dissimilar side establishes the reverse, i.e., that it definitely does not exist on the dissimilar side, then all of the following are also the opponent's views. Like proving that the remaining fruit is not ripe with the reason that it is similar in shape to a ripe fruit, having remaining dharma, if so, then the reverse pervasion is deluded, or not, because it is only established that the reason is not seen on the dissimilar side. If admitted, then it contradicts what the teacher said, "Because the shape and so on are similar, the taste and so on must also be similar, which is not reasonable." Third, the reason that logicians fabricate as reverse, which is not seen on both sides, such as life, etc., that also, subject, becomes a valid reason for proving that a living body has self, because that establishes the dharma to be proven, and is only not seen on the dissimilar side. If admitted, then it contradicts what the teacher said that it is the same as what is to be heard and a seemingly valid reason. Fourth, the reason for which there is doubt as to whether it exists or not on the dissimilar side, that subject, combined with the reason that is not established due to doubt about the dharma of the subject, it is unreasonable to say that it has the fault of not establishing reverse pervasion, because it is only not seen on the dissimilar side.
