It is said to exist in a way that expresses connection. Then, one might ask, what exactly are those two modes of action of that differentiated existent referring to? There are two parts to this: refuting that prior and subsequent non-existence are the two extremes; refuting that cause and effect are the two extremes. First: If the two, the non-existence of a thing before it arises and the non-existence after it is destroyed, are themselves the extremes, then one might ask, why are prior non-existence and subsequent non-existence not impermanent themselves? The answer is, it is not the impermanence of a thing, because "the impermanence of a thing" is in the sixth case and is not applicable to the combination of terms like dharma and dharmī, because it is non-existence, so it has no connection with a thing. If that is said, then one might ask, how can the term in the sixth case, together with existence, be applied to the two extremes as the subject? It is not applicable, because it is non-existence. Furthermore, the existent itself is differentiated, and its connection as the subject is not differentiated by the extremes of prior non-existence and subsequent non-existence, because it is permanent. The proponent accepts the refutation. The second has four parts: Because a thing does not exist priorly, there is no cause and effect; because the connection is permanent, it is not an effect; if a thing makes prior non-existence, it is self-contradictory; therefore, it is shown that a thing is indeed prior non-existence. First: If the cause is the prior extreme and the effect is the subsequent extreme, and the thing in between is a differentiated existent, if that is said, then the differentiated existent as the subject will become undifferentiated by cause and effect, because cause and effect themselves are not established. It is pervasive: because saying that the non-existence of prior non-existence is a differentiation of prior non-existence is also not established. The previous reason is accepted, because the intelligent one does not think of a thing as prior non-existence, because it is accepted that a thing and prior non-existence have no connection. Second: Because the effect connects with the differentiated existent itself, or because the effect connects with its own cause and the cause of aggregation, the cause of aggregation is called the cause, and the two connections that it connects are the effect, and the thing differentiated by these two, cause and effect, is impermanent, if that is said, then the previously existing effect

That part related to origination itself, and that part related to its own cause, both of these are also subjects. How could this not be a result? Because it is a permanent phenomenon. Third, if it is said that there is no fault in the cause producing a result that did not exist before, then, things are subjects. Cause, you do not make things that did not exist before arise, because you do not possess the attribute of not existing before, because you do not admit to being related to things that did not exist before simultaneously. Therefore, this whole thing is a subject, it will become permanent, because it is not a result through the arising of something that did not exist before. Fourth, if it is said that then the sound concept that distinguishes between things and what did not exist before will not be established, then, if one does not admit that things are what did not exist before, there will be a fault. The object to be expressed is a subject, the mind that clings to things and phenomena, that is, what did not exist before, as being different in meaning is a subject. It does not depend on things and what did not exist before being different in substance, because it is the mind that falsely assumes that things and what did not exist before, which are not different in meaning, are different. The expression sound for things and what did not exist before, which are intended to appear in the sense of no difference, is also a subject. It does not depend on things and what did not exist before being different in substance, because they only depend on the difference in opposition. Second, there are five points to abandon the transformation of seeing differences into others: showing that the mind is not valid; the difference is not an object-possessor; refuting the establishment of validity; showing that it is memory and decisive knowledge; confusing the establishment of not being memory. First, in short, it is also not repeated knowledge, like endless change, memory, etc. Explaining the meaning of this sentence is: having previously seen fire clearly in the room, later from the sign of smoke behind the room, the mind that recognizes that this is the previous fire is a subject. It is not valid, because it clings to the different moments of fire before and after as one. Second, the later mind is a subject. It is also not the object-possessor of the difference of the previous fire, because it holds the later fire to be the same as the previously seen fire, that is, it holds only the generality of the same before and after. If it is said that the previous fire is an example of the later mind measuring the later fire, then this mind
