You alone cannot exhaust all karma, because some of your forms, such as hunger and thirst corresponding to the same kind, will produce small results. And for karma of different kinds, the result of producing suffering will not even become small. If, through the power of asceticism, all the power of karma is mixed together, so that it is exhausted through one suffering or one asceticism, then, asceticism, as a dharma, your afflictions, that is, the part of suffering, such as plucking hair, etc., will abandon all karma, or will completely abandon dependence on afflictions, that is, suffering. Because you mix all the power of karma together, so that it is exhausted through one suffering or one asceticism. Because you want to separate yourself from afflictions, that is, suffering. If this is not established, that is, you yourself are afflictions, that is, suffering, then, asceticism, as a dharma, this will not make it possible for the power of karma to be mixed and exhausted, etc. Because this is the result of bad karma. Third, if you also think that by realizing selflessness, its result will also exhaust karma, then why is there no antidote to exhaust karma? The path of realizing selflessness, as a dharma, is a way to prevent any fault of craving, because from the previous craving, the fault of wanting to generate later craving in the future is due to the destruction of the seeds of later craving. Therefore, the path of realizing selflessness, as a dharma, is able to destroy the karma generated by later craving, but how can it make the results of previously created karma disappear? This is impossible. Because the karma created by craving will surely produce results. Fourth, just as karma arises from afflictions, so if there are afflictions, there will be no liberation, and afflictions also arise from karma, so if there is karma, there will be no liberation either, are these two similar? Karma that has abandoned afflictions, as a dharma, will not produce faulty afflictions from you, because you have no afflictions. This is universal, that is, if one has faulty afflictions, one will create karma, but conversely, without faulty afflictions, karma and afflictions will not arise. If this is not established, that is, happiness and suffering will arise from good and bad karma

If asked: Why do attachment and aversion arise from that (selflessness)? A person who has abandoned the view of self, even from happiness and suffering, will not generate desires, hatred, etc., because there is no clinging to the false conceptions of "I" and "mine." Second, the way in which the Sugata is established from that (selflessness): Protector, you teach the four truths without distortion. By using you as a sign, the teacher who possesses you knows the nature of reality as it is, and because the knowledge does not regress, it is stable, and he knows the distinctions of all knowable objects without exception. Therefore, it is established that he possesses the wisdom of the three qualities (knowing the nature of reality, being stable, knowing all distinctions), because you are the result of the wisdom of the three qualities. If asked: Then, is it contradictory to what was previously said about the meaning of the Sugata having abandoned? Answer: The word "Sugata," you possess the three meanings of realization, therefore it can be explained as the meaning of Sugata, because you apply to the three qualities of realization through the distinction of causes. Therefore, the Thubpa, you are superior to the detachment of non-Buddhists, as well as the Stream-enterers, etc., who are in training, and the Arhats of Hearers and Solitary Realizers who are not in training, because, according to the order of proof, you possess the three qualities of reality, stability, and knowing everything without exception. Third, the way in which the teacher is established from that (selflessness): Thubpa, you, having practiced and become accustomed to the means of knowing the meaning of others, that itself is established as having preceded the name of the teacher of the fruition, because you possess the three special wisdoms. Fourth, the way in which compassion is established from that (selflessness): Thubpa, you are established as having compassion for others, because you have become accustomed to the vast means for the benefit of others, and although you have accomplished the perfection of abandoning and realizing self-benefit, you do not abandon the activity of teaching the Dharma for the sake of others. Fifth, therefore it is established that you have made effort: Bhagavan, because you have made effort through the means of valid cognition, you are established as a valid person in the pursuit of liberation, because you possess great compassion and are virtuous, that is, beneficial, and because you possess great wisdom, you speak the truth, and you possess the proof, and in speaking in that way, you also have manifestation, that is, you possess diligence. Praised by valid cognition.
