According to the rules, do not loosen, do not be attached, do not grasp, and leave it like a fool. Relax loosely, naturally, thoroughly, do not strive to cultivate, like a child who has had enough milk, or like a pile of straw that has been completely cut off, relax and leave it, and in that state, maintain a slight awareness of not being distracted. Do not think about anything else, keep it in its natural state. Sit for a little longer. Stay stable, then get up and rest. Even in between sessions, maintain a state of awareness. If you are doing reverse cultivation, no discriminating thoughts will arise when you are not distracted. Once you are distracted or many discriminating thoughts arise due to sudden circumstances, should you abandon them or not? Do not abandon them, but regard those discriminating thoughts as benefactors. In particular, let it flow naturally, let it flow whatever can flow. Furthermore, recognize the arising of one thought and the arising of two thoughts. Do not abandon or not abandon, and do not follow. Do not like to dwell, do not dislike flowing, do not worry about not being able to cultivate, do not expect good states to arise, etc., do not have any expectations or worries, but take those thoughts as the basis for the mind to dwell. Do not stop thoughts, do not deliberately cultivate non-discrimination, but take the thoughts themselves as the object, put them on top, the thoughts will naturally subside and dissipate, and non-discrimination will naturally arise. Practice in this way, this is the seventh. Then, the way in which calm abiding arises and the introduction is that the definition of calm abiding is that all the discriminating thoughts of the mind and the distractions of clinging to characteristics are pacified. It is free from the three states of excitement, sinking, and dullness. With the nature of non-discrimination, one-pointedly abiding, the previous efforts are combined, and now without relying on effort, it is easy and happy, broad and easy, and easy to support. When getting up from meditation (26), the mind will not turn into anything else, but will turn there. When walking, sitting, etc., the awareness is slow and natural, relaxed and clear. If you do not deliberately let awareness enter the object, you will not be able to grasp the details of the object, and the mind will not fall into distraction. The experience of bliss, clarity, and non-thought, all three are equally present. If any one of them is slightly stronger, experiences of seeing, hearing, supernatural powers, and transformations will appear, and the ten signs, etc., will appear as appropriate. Faultless calm abiding arises in the continuum in this way. This is the basis for the arising of all qualities such as insight. At this time, physical illness, mental suffering, good and bad dreams, supernatural powers, transformations, bliss, clarity, non-thought, etc. are all good experiences.
