Without sectarian bias. Without artificial behavior. Without partial compassion. Without distracted meditation. Qualities will arise without depletion. Thus it is said. View without being inverted. Instructions without misusing the vessel. Meditation without error, without laxity. Conduct without attachment, without being stained by faults. If the vows do not shame the gods, then the fruits of needs and desires will not be devoured by demons. For example, like a medicinal tree. Thus it is said. Because the seer and the seen are non-dual, it is the king of view without attachment. Because the meditator and the meditated are without attachment, it is the king of meditation without attachment. Because the actor and the acted upon are without attachment, it is the king of action without attachment. Because the obtainable and the obtained are without attachment, it is the king of fruit without attachment. Thus it is said. Je Rangjung Dorje (the Third Karmapa). If one looks at one's own awareness, that is called view. Not having anything to do is called conduct. Acting like that is called union. Abiding without distraction is called meditation. Thus it is said. The meaning is: Looking at one's own mind is view. Not being distracted from that is meditation. Not being separated from that is conduct. That which manifests is the fruit. When looking, there is nothing to look at, appearance is mind itself. When meditating, there is nothing to meditate on, awareness is self-secret. When acting, there is nothing to act on, act on self-arisen power. The fruit has nothing to accomplish, one's own mind is Buddha. Thus it is said. Tilopa said: If one transcends all grasping, one is the king of view. If there is no distraction, one is the king of meditation. If there is no effort, one is the king of conduct. If there is no hope and fear, one is the king of fruit. Thus it is said. Jigten Sumgon said: Seeing the meaning of mind itself without inversion is view. Continuously meditating on that without distraction. Acting by acting on that itself. If all the phenomena of samsara and nirvana are absent, they do not arise, but are only interdependent origination. All interdependent origination exists in an instant. That instant is also interdependent emptiness, so the fruit is the Dharmakaya. Thus it is said. As the Kagyu forefathers said: In order to clearly elucidate the excellent tradition. Looking intently is view. Not being distracted from that is meditation. Continuously acting is conduct. View is liberated from philosophical tenets. Meditation is liberated from mental fixation.

"Liberated from the actions of taking and discarding." So it is said. As it is said, Jetsün Phagdru said: In general, the individual who is the basis for meditation needs to have a view with conviction, like a garuda soaring in the sky. One needs to have uninterrupted meditation, like a wise wife managing her household. One needs to have actions that arise naturally, like an old bull releasing water. If difficulties, ease, happiness, or suffering arise, the view is forgotten. Even if a serious illness occurs, the view is forgotten. Even at the time of one's own death, the view is forgotten, and the mind becomes comfortable and relaxed. In the shade of the sun, sitting on a large cushion, one becomes intoxicated with beer. When one is full of food, one raises one's hands to the sky. Whenever one dies, one is a Buddha. The skull can be discarded. Everything is emptiness, but even though one says this, it is only lip service, so it is of little benefit. Therefore, one needs to have a view with conviction. When one experiences difficulties, ease, or illness, one needs to remember the reality of the view and be able to pacify pain and suffering. For that, it is not enough to merely have the reality of the view; one needs to understand it, one needs to realize it. In order to understand and realize it, one needs to meet a qualified lama and, with great devotion, rely on precious instructions. For that, when a garuda flies in the sky, it needs to point its tail feathers towards the ground. After flying, one needs to direct one's awareness to the place where one is staying, just like one does not need to flap one's wings, etc. One needs to have uninterrupted meditation. One does many meaningless things in relation to the lama's root and unpleasant things. Even though one counts many sessions of meditative equipoise, in the later times, the three poisons of affliction are not even slightly subdued. Conceptual thought becomes stronger, and the mind becomes rough, so there is no difference from an ordinary person. Therefore, even if it seems like one is not meditating, it is important to always observe one's own mind. One should not be controlled by the afflictions of attachment and aversion, and one should strive to keep mindfulness unscattered towards the white side. In terms of the pāramitās, this is called mindfulness and awareness, which are said to be the basis or cause of the three trainings. If one always goes there, that is uninterrupted meditation. This is like the household affairs of a wise wife, which seem to be exhausted, but there is always a continuous supply of things to use. One needs to have actions that arise naturally. For that, the best action is devotion to the lama. In that regard, what is called action is the father of the earth.
