From another perspective, there is nothing like non-conceptual qualities to meditate on. Or rather, it is easy, as it does not need to be sought elsewhere, it is here within oneself, this saying of 'my mind, my mind.' It is not to look at various characteristics, but to look at the unaltered essence, simply the naturally clear, open and spacious state. Zhang Rinpoche said, 'The great sound of what is called Dharmakaya Mahamudra refers to one's own mind. If one does not recognize the nature of mind, then this saying of 'my mind, my mind' refers to that cleverness that thinks of everything except what is needed. All phenomena of samsara and nirvana do not go beyond this. The essence of all the Sutras, Vinaya, Abhidharma, and Tantras is also this.' Gotsangpa said, 'Well then, how is it? It is this ordinary awareness that is currently free from grasping at reality and grasping at emptiness, this is the finger pointing to Mahamudra. Although there are countless doors of manifestation for this, there is only one unaltered primordial awareness, and there is no other way.' Orgyenpa said, 'In reality, from this very nature of mind, there is nothing better than Buddhahood to be found elsewhere, because the reality of mind has been naturally abiding as the Dharmakaya from the very beginning.' The Sambhuti Tantra says, 'All that has the nature of outer and inner, all of these are established by mind. Other than mind, there is nothing else that exists.' Gyalwa Yang Gonpa said, 'As for what is called Mahamudra, some say that hand (ཕྱག་, Sanskrit: hasta) is appearance, seal (རྒྱ་, Sanskrit: mudrā) is emptiness, and great (ཆེན་པོ་, Sanskrit: mahā) is the union of the two. This is a saying about the seal of Dharma, not a saying about Mahamudra. All sayings about clarity and emptiness are sayings about the Samaya seal; all sayings about bliss and emptiness are sayings about the Karma seal. Mahamudra is what the great Brahmin Saraha considered, it is free from the three conditions, it transcends the four joys, and it transcends luminosity. Therefore, Mahamudra does not rely on the condition of bliss, does not rely on the condition of clarity, and does not rely on the condition of non-conceptualization, so it is free from the three conditions.' Mahamudra cannot be shown by the lama, cannot be understood by the student, is not defiled by experience and feeling, is not confused by certainty, is not separated by view, meditation, and action, is not divided into the three: ground, path, and fruit, and thus appears as existence.

Therefore, regarding this Dharma of samsara and nirvana, there is no need to abandon or retain, nor to bind or liberate. Without applying any remedies or making any alterations, recognizing it in its own place and being self-liberated is called Mahamudra. So it is said. Also, Ri khrod dbang phyug said: All dharmas are one's own mind; other than the mind, there is not even a particle of other dharmas. And so on, he said limitlessly. One session of Dharma. Second, the divisions: The ways of dividing are too many to express, but if summarized, there are three: Ground Mahamudra, Path Mahamudra, and Fruition Mahamudra. First, as explained above, the non-duality of the Buddha's mind is realized and to be manifested by noble beings. The inherent nature of the three realms of samsara, the primordial state of all dharmas, the co-emergent wisdom, the basis that pervades all, from us sentient beings like insects and ants up to all those who have attained Buddhahood, exists in the continuum of all, the self-nature that is pure, without good or bad, big or small, and so on. This is the way the Dharmakaya abides. From the two, realization and non-realization, arise the two, samsara and nirvana. However, even at the time of realization, the dharmata of the ground is free from elaboration, and the agent of existence, samsara, and nirvana does not transcend this. Therefore, above that Mahamudra, there is no good thing called Dharmakaya to be sought, so it can be designated as Great. All sentient beings have it in their continuum, and it is the indivisibility of appearance-emptiness, awareness-emptiness, bliss-emptiness, spontaneously accomplished as the nature of the three kayas and five wisdoms, abiding free from all extremes of elaboration such as arising, ceasing, abiding, existence, and non-existence. However, due to the power of one's own co-emergent ignorance, one does not recognize one's own face. For example, it is like showing a form in the dark. That way of abiding is beyond speech, thought, knowledge, and expression, and cannot be grasped, like drawing a picture on fire and in the sky. Because it is free from object and subject, knowable and knower, it is not known, like the eye not seeing the eye. Because there is no lama who shows it, it is not known, like a prince wandering among the common people. Because it is accomplished in one taste, it is not known, like medicine turning into poison. The essence abides in awareness, but immediately recognizing it as wrong and labeling it as inverted, it is not known, like mistaking a rope for a snake.
