Experiencing One Taste: In the previous state of freedom from elaboration, all phenomena are without inherent existence or are completely dissolved into emptiness. Any fresh thoughts that arise or any slight discomfort in appearances give rise to what is called the mixing of samsara and nirvana. Its meaning is that for this uninterrupted fresh appearance, there is neither the grasping of reality that clings to appearances, nor the clinging to emptiness that clings to emptiness. This outer appearance is meditated upon as being without inherent existence by one's own mind, or any phenomena that appear as duality are not established. It is not just a matter of mental measurement, but rather appearance and non-appearance, emptiness and non-emptiness, the emptiness of perceived objects, the generation and completion stages, relative and ultimate truth, samsara and nirvana, and so on. In short, all phenomena of duality, such as happiness and suffering, are realized as being non-different, indivisible, and of one taste in union, and arise as coemergent wisdom. Any fresh thoughts that arise are free from acceptance and rejection. With self-aware, self-luminous, effortless, and genuine mindfulness, the three—mind, mindfulness, and appearance—are like fire and heat, other and cause and effect, interdependent manifestation, and happiness also arises in appearance. This is called the yoga of one taste. Among these, there are three: small, medium, and large. The first is: Appearance and emptiness are mixed without distinction, and everything is realized as the primordial nature. Without emptiness or non-emptiness, any fresh awareness that arises is sufficient. It is realized as Dharma. On either appearance or emptiness, one can also realize the complete path of Dharma, but the three—body, appearance, and mind—are inseparable, and sometimes a definite understanding arises in the mind. There is a slight experience and a definite understanding of grasping. In post-meditation, solid things like earth appear, and due to strong disturbances from external conditions, the appearances of the six consciousnesses are uncomfortable when doing virtuous deeds, and there are many appearances of grasper and grasped, and there are also situations where it seems difficult to do Dharma openly or secretly. Post-meditation appearances are like illusions, and even in dreams, there are many confusions and attachments. Sometimes, the experience of the three—body, appearance, and mind—being inseparable also arises. There may be a slight lack of importance given to cause and effect, and a small amount of respect and compassion may arise, so one should not go that way. This is the second session of Dharma. Intermediate One Taste: The previous experience is mixed with a portion of the grasping of definite understanding, so the physical body is not completely outward, and awareness is not completely inward. Appearance and mind are united as one.

The root of grasping at the grasper and the grasped is completely severed. Grasping also arises dependent on the grasped, so by abandoning the grasped, all that is grasped appears as primordially self-luminous. When that is absent, the consciousness that grasps is separated. Grasping appears on the object, and everything appears as an aid to one consciousness. Forms and other objects appear without conceptualization, so the grasper and grasped appear on that object. Small one taste and the nature of union are no different, but the experience becomes more stable. The experience of body, appearance, and mind merging into one arises. Subsequent cognition and dreams are also less confused than before, and intense clinging also does not arise much. However, in dreams or at other times, with correct mindfulness, the appearance of dualistic grasping, like an illusion, occurs occasionally, whether one is distracted or not. The difference between grasping at memory and correct memory is that when distracted, the thought of being distracted arises, and virtuous activity arises in the continuum. That is grasping at memory, and it is a sign that grasping has entered before. Without conceptual grasping, merely memory arises on the basis of practice, that is the Dharma of realization, correct memory. Although it was not previously grasped by ascertainment, it is a sign that grasping has not entered. The thirty-third Dharma session. The great one taste is: realizing all phenomena of existence, samsara and nirvana, in the state of equality in unbornness. Determining appearance and mind as one, and the previous experience becoming more stable, this appearance does not cease, and this purifies the clinging to truth, so the non-dual realization arises continuously day and night. The door of non-conceptual appearance, in a slightly clear appearance, some uncertain experiences occur slightly. The clear appearance without grasping does not cease. Sometimes, samsara, nirvana, and all appearances appear as the nature of realization, then the conceptual thoughts of dualistic grasping are cut off. There is only a subsequent appearance without recognition, like an illusion. That is also like the appearance of a magician, knowing that it is not there, but subtle dualistic appearances do not cease. Dreams without grasping also appear vaguely, and sometimes there are no dreams. This dualistic appearance is that subtle doors of appearance, in the state of practice, appear occasionally as the radiance of purification, or clear appearance, or empty appearance, that is called the empty appearance after one taste. In reality, it is a remainder to be abandoned, so as long as there is confidence in meditation, relying on that
