When non-grasping arises, and recognizing it as, "My preliminary practice has naturally arisen," acknowledge it and remain in a state of amazement. Moreover, while in that very state of amazement and openness, walk slowly, and when filtering the water of the root channels, even if surrounded by hundreds of sisters, remain free from fear and shyness. Whether sleeping, standing, or sitting, in any of the four activities, maintain awareness without straying from the state of clear emptiness and non-grasping. As stated in the Compendium: "Walking, standing, sleeping, and sitting, be fully endowed with mindfulness and awareness. Observe like a yoke, and in walking, the mind is not distracted." In short, at all times, whether speaking, reciting scriptures, chanting mantras, listening to Dharma, or giving teachings, maintain the state of clear emptiness and non-grasping, without straying from it. As such, the immaculate teachings of the Kagyu lineage's revered forefathers should be taken to heart and diligently practiced; this is of great importance. Twenty-third Dharma session. Secondly, in terms of the divisions, it is about making the mind that is not held, held; making the held mind stable; and making the stable mind enhanced. The first point includes: holding the mind with an object, holding the mind without an object, and holding the mind with the breath. The first point further includes: holding the mind outwardly and holding the mind inwardly. The first point also includes: holding the mind on an impure object and holding the mind on a pure object. Firstly, if holding the mind on a coarse object, adjust the posture and physical points well, face forward, and focus the gaze on a clear object that appears in the field of vision, such as a pillar, wall, or mountain, with single-pointed attention, without straying to other places, and remain focused. If holding the mind on a subtle object, place a thin wooden stick about four fingers wide or two small pebbles in front, and focus on one of them. However, if you are too attached to the object of focus, it will become a condition for conceptual thoughts to arise, so relax naturally, do not let the mind wander to other places, and maintain relaxation and focus on the object of focus. Do not think about its thickness, length, color, etc., but relax naturally and maintain uninterrupted awareness. Because the object of focus is only a reminder or memo to not be distracted, simply focus the gaze on the object of focus and remain relaxed, rather than meditating on the object of focus itself. When a certain amount of time has passed, or if the object of focus moves, shakes, or becomes invisible, also...

If a state like numbness arises, cut off the thought completely, and instead of looking at that object of focus, look at the space in front of the brow center, and let the mind relax naturally. Do not set any goals for this meditation; just be without distraction, and without being tainted by dullness and drowsiness, maintain a state of clear and lucid awareness. This is what Tilopa said: 'If the mind has no object of focus, that is Mahamudra.' If you become accustomed and familiar with this, you will attain unsurpassed enlightenment. This is the meaning of what he said. The twenty-fourth Dharma session, the twenty-first object of focus. Furthermore, in order to make the mind abide, if you expect the mind to abide, to be clear, and to be happy, or if you are too tense because you are worried about the proliferation of thoughts, this will cause the mind not to abide. Therefore, it is important not to have any expectations or worries, but to rest in a relaxed manner. Kyeme Zhang said: 'The meditation of Mahamudra cannot be realized through artificiality, goals, desires, and effort. If there is desire and effort, it will not blossom.' He also said: 'If the mind is not artificial, it will be clear; if the water is not muddy, it will be clear.' He also said: 'The mind that is bound by ropes, there is no doubt that it will be liberated when loosened.' Therefore, abandon all efforts of body and mind, and without doing anything deliberately, rest in a state of non-artificiality, naturalness, relaxation, ease, without contraction or expansion, without object of focus, without attachment, naturally, comfortably, without desire. Do not cling to any experience of effort and striving. He also said: 'The meditation of Mahamudra is without attachment to anything, without desire, let the mind relax naturally.' If you know how to relax in this way, a clear and thought-free state will appear, like the expanse of pure space. Do not regard a long time as an advantage, and do not regard a short time as a disadvantage, but hold and meditate for just a moment, and soon you will recognize the nature of thoughts, and thoughts will arise as luminosity, appearing clearly and continuously without interruption, without doubt. This will effortlessly coincide with the unerring view of the Buddha.' He also said: 'Je Gotsangpa said: If the meaning of Mahamudra is completely condensed, it is these. First, pray to the Lama. Then, dissolve the Lama into yourself, and the Lama's mind and your own mind
