It is the result of whatever virtuous deeds are practiced. Here, whatever actions are performed, their fully ripened result, that is, the result in the next life, if one practices non-virtue, then with the fully ripened result of non-virtue, one is born in the three lower realms. The result corresponding to the cause is: Killing causes a short life. Harming others causes much harm. Stealing causes a lack of wealth. Committing adultery causes enemies. Lying causes slander. Sowing discord causes separation from friends. Harsh words cause unpleasant sounds to be heard. Idle talk causes words to be untrustworthy. Covetousness destroys hope in the mind. Harmful thoughts bestow fear. Wrong views are evil views themselves. Thus it is said. The dominant result is: The external environment is weak, with much harm. Dust accumulates, the smell is foul, with high and low. There are salty lands and perversions. Fruits are scarce, small, or nonexistent. Thus it is said. These are the results of practicing the ten non-virtuous actions. If one practices the ten virtuous actions, one will obtain a happy rebirth with a body of bliss and be born in a pleasant place. Among these, by practicing the three non-virtuous actions of great, medium, and small, and by accumulating karma arising from hatred, desire, and ignorance, one is born in the hells, among the pretas, and as animals. By practicing small virtuous actions, one obtains a human body. Medium ones lead to the desire gods, etc. By practicing great ones, one is born in the realms of meditative absorption and the formless realms. Thus it is said in the Precious Garland: Attachment, hatred, and ignorance, and the actions created by them are non-virtuous. From non-virtuous actions come suffering, and likewise all the lower realms. Without attachment, hatred, and ignorance, the actions created by them are virtuous. From virtuous actions come all the happy realms, and happiness in all lifetimes. It is also said: Attachment causes one to be born as a preta. Hatred throws one into hell. Ignorance causes one to go as an animal. Also, in the Short Mindfulness Sutra: By virtue, happiness is obtained. From non-virtue, suffering arises. Thus, the actions and results of virtue and non-virtue have been clearly shown. Also, in the Precious Garland: By meditative absorption, immeasurable states, and the formless realms, one will obtain the bliss of Brahma and others. Thus it is said. One should abandon all non-virtuous actions, such as the three non-virtuous actions of the body, the four of speech, and the three of mind, and strive to accomplish the ten virtuous actions that are the opposite of them. As it is said in the Hundred Deeds Sutra: The bodies of sentient beings

Lands, even for hundreds of kalpas, will not be wasted. When gathered and the time is ripe, they will mature into fruit. Therefore, whatever good or bad is done, it is placed as a seed in the mind, and when it meets a condition that awakens it, the ripening of happiness and suffering will each appear infallibly. If the motivation is aroused by afflictions, then no matter how one pretends to keep the precepts, listen, contemplate, and meditate, everything is just pretending to be Dharma, so it will not become real Dharma. Moreover, the fruit of one's own actions is experienced only by oneself and cannot be shared with others. Unless an antidote is generated to destroy the seed, the latent tendencies will remain undiminished even after countless kalpas. The fruits of each will also appear infallibly. As stated in the sutra: The actions done by Devadatta himself will not ripen in the earth and water, but will ripen only in the aggregates and sense bases grasped by himself. In whom else will they ripen? Also, as stated in the Abhidharmasamuccaya: How does one partake of the share of karma? It is to experience the ripening result of what one has done, because one partakes of the respective results of virtuous and non-virtuous actions. Also, as stated in the Desaprasna Sutra: For spicy seeds, spicy fruits will grow. For sweet seeds, sweet fruits will grow. By this example, the wise should know that the ripening of sins is spicy, and the ripening of white deeds is sweet. Also, as stated in the Drannyekchungwa: Fire may become cold, wind may be caught by ropes, the sun and moon may fall to the ground, but the ripening of karma can never deceive. Thus it is said. The fourth session is complete. Generally, there are four types of karma: karma to be experienced in this life, karma to be experienced in the next life, karma to be experienced in subsequent lives, and karma that is uncertain to be experienced. The first is based on the difference between the field and intention, such as the ripening of the fruit of that karma in that lifetime. The second is for the five heinous crimes and the near five heinous crimes, the results of which will appear in future lives, etc. The third is as stated in the Karma Hundred Sutra: The actions of sentient beings, even for hundreds of kalpas, will not be wasted. When gathered and the time is ripe, they will mature into fruit. Thus it is said.
