In the Ornament, it is said that the middle months of summer and winter cannot be full days, and the middle months of autumn and spring can be full days. However, in the Compendium of Vinaya and the Minor Commentary, it is said that the middle months of summer and winter can be full days, and the middle months of autumn and spring cannot be full days. These are not contradictory, as the former is based on the waning moon as a precedent, and the latter is based on the waxing moon as a precedent. Regarding whether the latter half of an intercalary month should be full days, there are two views: Some argue that if the intercalary month follows a month with insufficient days, it should be considered insufficient; if it follows a month with full days, it should be considered full. The purpose of this is to ultimately avoid delaying the Uposatha time of Saga (ས་ག་, April) and Chutö (ཆུ་སྟོད, July) months, etc. Others argue that all intercalary months must be full days, because the six insufficient days discarded each year already offset the discarding of insufficient days in the intercalary month; otherwise, it would be too excessive. If that were the case (51a), "Winter and snow" means that the beginning of the annual discarding is determined from winter, but it is said that there are various inconsistencies in determining the beginning of the first winter month. Some cite the Sutra Near to the Heart, saying, "The full moon night is the day of the Revati star (ཐ་སྐར), on the first day of the middle month of autumn, I will tell the cycle of the year, this is the explanation of the twelve months." This means that from the full moon night of the Revati star, i.e., the fifteenth day of the ninth lunar month, the year ends, and the new year begins from the sixteenth day of the ninth lunar month. There is also a saying from the Treasury of Knowledge: "From the ninth day of the end of the second summer month, the night becomes longer, and on the fourth of the winter months, the day becomes shorter." And the explanation for this: "The four summer months are placed between the full moon of the middle summer month and the full moon of the last autumn month. Therefore, the period from the sixteenth day of the Saga (ས་ག་, April) month to the fifteenth day of the Dron (སྣྲོན, November) month is considered the first summer month. The period from the sixteenth day of the Dron (སྣྲོན, November) month to the fifteenth day of the Chutö (ཆུ་སྟོད, July) month is considered the second summer month. The ninth day of the end of the second month, around the twentieth day of the sixth lunar month, is the summer solstice, which also corresponds to the current time of the summer solstice. Therefore, the new year is calculated from the day after the full moon of the bathing month in the eighth lunar month. If that is the case, the acceptance of the first summer month must be done in the fourth month. Furthermore, the tenth lunar month, the Pleiades month (སྨིན་དྲུག)
