Furthermore, a bhikkhu who has not laid down anything hard, fearing, places his own robes and other items in a blessed monastery. In a village where fear has not been dispelled, he does not have a confused perception of where it is permissible to place them, and with the intention of freely departing for six nights, without any obstacles, he leaves his dwelling and the place where his robes are placed, along with its surroundings, ultimately exceeding six nights. When the dawn of hope arises, he abandons it. (Eighth, concerning the abandonment of searching for a coarse cloth seat and placing it later. The time for searching and allowing placement is: Bhikkhu, etc. The duration of holding it is: After the summer ends, etc. The exceeding is: If, etc. Based on a bhikkhu related to the summer retreat, regarding a coarse cloth seat, meeting the standards, capable of sheltering from wind and rain, usable for four months (32b), not old. The time for searching is within one month before the summer retreat begins. The difference in placement is that it can be placed within half a month after the lifting of the prohibition. If, for one's own sake, one desires to search one month before the summer retreat begins, or within half a month after the lifting of the prohibition, one desires to hide the coarse cloth seat without designation, and acts accordingly. Ultimately, therefore, searching and finding it one month before the retreat begins results in the abandonment of searching for a seat; holding it within half a month after the lifting of the prohibition without designation results in the offense of abandoning it after placing it. (Ninth, concerning the abandonment of dedicating and then changing the use. The basis and conditions are: Again, etc. The cognition and action are: Knowingly, etc. Based on a bhikkhu, a qualified householder, dedicating an item such as clothing or a bowl to the Sangha or another person, without a confused perception. Although there is no intention to steal, with the intention of changing it for one's own use, saying, "Please offer it to me." Ultimately, when that item is obtained, it is abandoned. For example, dedicating an item to another person and changing it to another, dedicating an item to another bhikkhu and changing it to another, dedicating an item to a monastery pillar and changing it to a beam, changing a step to a vase, dedicating an item to another animal and changing it to another, etc.
