It depends on the cause and effect of karma. When analyzing, the "self" to be refuted by the scriptures and reasoning of all three vehicles is not that. If it is not that, then what reason is there to consider it not to be abandoned? In all the ocean of scriptures of the three vehicles, not a single word has been said about a form of refutation based on a reason other than that "self." Moreover, all noble beings have never even heard of such a thing being said. The pervasion of the reason is established and cannot be denied. In that case, since such a "self" also exists in the continuum of the Buddha, and there is no other antidote, the Buddha would become one who possesses the view of self and the view of the perishable aggregate. If that is also admitted, then the perfect Buddha would not be liberated from samsara, because he is one who has the view of the perishable aggregate. Who would trust that such a Madhyamaka Prasangika is a Madhyamaka? If that is not a trustworthy place, then the distinctions of the four possibilities of affirmation and negation regarding the view of the perishable aggregate and the view of the self of a person are endless and immeasurable in the ocean of scriptures of the teachings and treatises of the three vehicles of the past. Since it will never occur, who would be amazed at those self-made things? If one is amazed, then one should also calculate the four possibilities of affirmation and negation for food and tsampa (roasted barley flour), because it should also be established as the uncommon tenet of the Prasangika. Because one must say that food made of barley flour is food, but not tsampa made of wheat flour, and so on. If one says that, what is the point? If one says that when explaining, debating, writing, and hearing, thinking, and meditating on the treatises of the Buddhas and great Bodhisattvas, if one is busy with meaningless chatter that will not become a cause of liberation, will that not become the work of a demon? The meaning of the new establishment of the distinctions of those four possibilities that you admit is also extremely mistaken. Is the mind that grasps my eye, ear, etc., as being self-established, a belief in the truth of phenomena, having divided the knowable into phenomena and persons, or is it a belief in the truth of persons? If it is the latter, then that would become the grasping of the self of a person, and you do not admit that either. If it is the former, then that phenomenon should be the grasping of the self of phenomena. Because it is the former. The pervasion is established. If you admit it, then that phenomenon should not be the view of the perishable aggregate. Because that is the admission.

Hey, you have already admitted the pervasiveness. Clarity is contradictory. Furthermore, if such a mind is not an inherent grasping of phenomena, then the eyes, ears, etc., would become non-phenomena divided into two. If such a mind is neither a grasping of the self of a person nor a grasping of the self of phenomena, then it would become the third skandha of self-grasping. If viewing another person as a self is not a view of the perishable, then it would not become viewing a person as a self either, because without looking at the perishable aggregates of that other person, the view of a person as a self does not arise. Because without looking at the limbs and parts, it is impossible to look at the possessor of limbs and the possessor of parts. Therefore, for both the Prasangika and Svatantrika, there is good and bad in the view of the two selflessnesses, because there is a difference in whether or not the self to be refuted by the sign of that selflessness is truly recognized. This statement, in the past, in the land of the noble ones and in this land of snow (Tibet), in the Madhyamaka commentaries, oral instructions, meditation guides, notes, and quintessential teachings, in the songs of the Madhyamaka siddhas, there is no such clear statement of even half a word of such terminology, I swear. If you say that it is because you have little knowledge and hearing that such a thing exists, then please show reliable and pure scriptural authority. Moreover, you, towards all phenomena and beings, are so occupied by the innate grasping of ordinary minds of sentient beings, which grasp at names, that it has become as if established by direct perception. Because of this, you are very afraid of the emptiness of emptiness, the supreme intention of the Buddhas and great Bodhisattvas, so if you establish the cause and effect of the continuum of sentient beings, because conditioned phenomena are different in each moment, with gaps between objects, you worry that the cause will be interrupted in producing the effect, and you are greatly concerned. Like some internal and external schools of realism, you cannot let go of your attachment to things, such as the acceptance of universals and particulars, attainment and non-wastage, and the alaya-vijnana. Therefore, in order to have a basis for cause and effect, you establish a perishable real thing, and you accept two selves as the basis for cause and effect. (279a) Therefore, are those two bases of cause and effect the same or different? If they are the same, then all things would become persons who are the basis of cause and effect, because you yourself believe that all destruction of things is a thing, and if you can infer that the destroyed thing is the person who is the basis of cause and effect, then the destroyed thing is that person.
