Just as something exists without examination as a basis for being beautiful, similarly, when refuting the views accepted by the world with reasoning that is renowned in the world, any opponent who wants to purify the defilement of not understanding the beginning of wisdom, uses the refutation of emptiness of inherent existence to refute others, because they can see the ability of the refuter to refute and the thesis to be established. It should be known that the reason accepted by others, even if it deviates from the validity of the characteristic of inherent existence, can still lead to the understanding of the thesis to be established. Here, Shar Tsongkhapa says that setting up the image in a mirror as an example of all phenomena not being established by inherent existence is not because the object can function there and is established, so it is not emptiness; but as an example of emptiness that is negated by the sign, so although the image in the mirror is established as an object of the image, it is not established as a face, which can serve as an example. This statement is refuted by the accomplished ones who have seen the truth of reality. In the commentary on the Vajra Dakini by the teacher Bhava Bhatra, it says, "Images and so on cannot be things themselves, for example, the face enters the mirror, or an image arises there, or the light of the eye slides on the mirror and sees another, or it is consciousness itself." If it is said like that, then for the time being, it is impossible for another form to arise there, because other bodies (313a) are obstructed, because the same place is impossible. It is also not seeing the face through the light sliding on the mirror, for example, the face looks east, but the image appears to look west, the face is large, but the image appears small, the trees by the water and so on look up, but the treetops appear to look down, etc., because they appear in different forms. It is also not one's own face entering into it, because there are all the faults mentioned above, and it will become not an image. It is also not consciousness, because a non-sentient being cannot abide in a place. The detailed explanation of this should be viewed in the Madhyamaka treatises. And so on, because there is extensive explanation. Therefore,
