The four things such as whether the Tathagata exists after passing away, and the two things that depend on whether body and life are the same or different, these fourteen things cannot be spoken of categorically, so the Blessed One did not reveal them, but established them separately. Among them, if the sound of the world or self is placed on the aggregates, and these are the self, sentient beings, and the world, then the arising and ceasing of the aggregates themselves will also reveal that the world is impermanent. After Nirvana, the continuum of the aggregates is cut off, and it will also reveal that the world has an end. Similarly, it is reasonable to reveal that the Tathagata will not appear after passing away, but it is not so, because you also think that the world has an end, etc., do not exist, so it should not be said that the aggregates and the mind are the self. Third, there are two situations: when seeing no-self, the aggregates do not appear, and even when seeing no-self, afflictions are not abandoned. The first situation is divided into two types: the main text and refuting the argument. The main text: When your yoga sees no-self, at that time all things will surely perish. According to your view, when a yogi sees the truth, he thinks that all dharmas are no-self, that is, when he sees the truth of suffering in the form of no-self, at that time all things such as form will surely perish, that is, be cut off, because the five aggregates can be regarded as "self" or "no-self." The second situation: If you abandon the permanent self, then for this reason, your mind or aggregates are not self. If, when explaining the relationship between karma and its result, the sound of self is only applied to the aggregates, and when seeing no-self, it is applied to the person of the inner agent who is falsely established by others. Then, when seeing no-self (287b), only seeing the five aggregates of the conditioned aggregates separated from the person of the inner agent, how can there be no real things such as form? If the sound of self grasps the permanent self, and thinks that seeing no-self is abandoning the self, then because of your own promise, your mind or aggregates will not be the self. In addition, if the self that is seen as empty by the wisdom of realizing no-self is the permanent self, then the aggregates and the mind should not be the self, because this is the object of wisdom and has not been prevented. No-self

Once realized, the aggregates are not self, then how could the aggregates be self when not realized? Second: Your yoga sees no-self, but cannot realize the self-nature of form, etc., because attachment, etc., arise from clinging to form, because its essence is not realized. The yogi of your school, seeing no-self, also cannot realize the self-nature of the aggregates such as form, because he realizes the no-self that is other than the aggregates. The yogi will also generate afflictions such as attachment to form, etc., because he has not realized the self-nature of the aggregates, i.e., the no-self of persons. Attachment, etc., and the view of self, etc., arise from clinging to objects such as form. For example, an apple has juice and honey, but one cannot realize the sweetness just by these, but if a magpie tastes the honey, it can realize the sweetness, and its craving for it will not diminish. Merely seeing the imputed no-self does not realize no-self, but instead perversely thinks of the aggregates, etc., as self, and attachment, etc., will not diminish. Second, it is divided into: stating the views of the previous party and refuting these views (288a) in two parts. The first part is: Because the teacher said that the aggregates are self, so if one thinks that the aggregates are self, we take the scriptural authority as the standard, because the reasoning authority cannot harm it, because the teacher said, whether a monk or a Brahmin, whoever truly observes with the thought of "I", they only truly observe these five aggregates of clinging, so if one thinks that the aggregates are only self. The second part is divided into: the intention of the scriptures is not that the aggregates are self, even if the aggregates are self, the collection is not self, and the taker should not be the taken, in three parts. The first part is divided into: teaching and explanation in two parts. The first part is: That is to prevent the self other than the aggregates, because other scriptures say that form is not self, etc. This sutra does not say that the aggregates are self, saying so is only to prevent the self that is different from the aggregates and is imputed by the outer and inner schools, because "only observing the aggregates as self" shows that they have not seen the self outside the aggregates. This is the imputed in relation to the conventional truth.
