Thus, it should not be dependent, this is its meaning. If consciousness is established in dependence on function, then is it unestablished? Or is it established? In the first case, because it is unestablished, like a donkey's horn, it does not depend on function. If it is like the second case, because it is established, it should not depend on it. The second case involves two aspects: others arising from others, which is excessive, and the refutation of the answer that dispels that fault. The first aspect is: If it transforms from the maturation of a ceased function, then it will become others arising from the function of others. Constant ones are mutually different from each other in that, therefore everything will arise from everything. Now the past has no function. As it is shown, if a consciousness that has arisen and is ceasing places a distinction of function in the Alaya for the sake of the fruit, if consciousness arises from the maturation of the ceased function, then for those who accept the Alaya, it is considered to arise from the present function, and for those who do not accept it, it is considered to arise from the past function. Thus, it will become others arising from the function of other consciousnesses, the constant flow of consciousnesses, moment after moment, without interruption, the moments before and after are different from each other in that constant flow, and others have already accepted it as other, if accepted, then relying on others, if others arise, then it will become darkness arising from flames, since such has already been prevented, there is no difference in otherness, therefore all things will arise from all things. This is the Sanskrit of constant, the root of Tantra, Tanu, is the meaning of growth. Thus, because it arises continuously, the branch of constant, the function that the moments before and after the thing have, the meaning of preventing others from producing other fruits, the meaning is to prevent the earlier seed from producing the later sprout. Such a key point not being understood, the later Tibetan Consequentialists, with their own system, strive to establish that the sprout arises from the thing of the seed, this is slandering a good system, what is the reason? The second aspect is the answer that dispels the fault, and the prevention of that, two aspects. The first aspect is: If in that constant otherness, they have no otherness in the constant, because of that.

If it is said that there is no fault, then, if in the process of the flow of consciousness, although the moments before and after the usual existing things are different from each other, these moments before and after have only one continuity and no difference, therefore, there will be no fault of everything arising from everything. The second view is: This is a point that needs to be proven, because in the uninterrupted continuity, there is no opportunity. Relying on Maitreya and near-taking, etc., because they are different entities, they do not belong to the same continuity. Those that are individually different by their own characteristics cannot be components of the same continuity. If so, although there is no fault, this has not been established, so this is a point that needs to be proven. Because there is no uninterrupted continuity, for the different things before and after the moment of consciousness, there is no opportunity for the uninterrupted continuity to follow. Just like Maitreya and near-taking, the dharmas that rely on other things, because they are other, do not belong to the same continuity. Those that are different from each other in their own nature before and after the moment of consciousness cannot be components of the same continuity, because they are other. Therefore, being able to fully mature and not being able to fully mature, thereby producing or not producing consciousness, this has been excluded. Because if there is no knowable, there will be no knower, this view has been established. The second part includes: the aforementioned view and the refutation of it. The first part includes: the explanation of the classification of roots and objects, even if there is no object, consciousness can arise from ability, and the three aspects of illustration through examples. The first aspect is: the arising of the wisdom of the eye, from what kind of self-power does it arise? It will arise completely immediately, and, relying on the power of its own consciousness as the basis, it is called the colored root, that is, the eye. By distinguishing the ability, dividing it into roots and objects, even if there is no object and root that forms matter, consciousness can arise, this view is established. The arising of the wisdom of the root of the eye, from what kind of self-power does it arise? From the similar consciousness, the previous moment (215b) When it is extinguished, it is left behind, and it is fully matured in the next moment, and immediately follows the habits left by the object and root, and the eye consciousness arises. And, from the ability to produce this consciousness, the eye's own form is produced without interruption.
