Furthermore, just as the absence of eyes is not the cause of this (eye consciousness), sleep is not the cause of dreams either. Just as in the waking state, the absence of eyes in the continuum of a blind person is not the cause for the maturation of the mental consciousness's ability to perceive blue and so on, similarly, in dreams, sleep is not the cause for the maturation of the mental consciousness's ability, because both are similar in that they lack eyes. Secondly, therefore, in dreams also, that real eye, should be accepted as the cause of realization, being the possessor of a false object. As just stated, therefore, in dreams also, the real (217a) false eye of the consciousness that possesses such an object, and the false sense faculty that is the basis of that consciousness, which possesses a false object, are the cause of realizing the object, because without sense faculties such as eyes, the realization of objects such as forms and sounds is not seen. Secondly, there are two: the absence of logical and scriptural proofs. The first is: Whatever answer is given by this, that and that are seen as being the same as the proposition, this debate is eliminated. The Madhyamika says that the three, object, sense faculty, and consciousness, in the waking state are empty of inherent existence, because they are objects of perception, like a dream. To this, the opponent says that the consciousness of the waking state is empty of meaning, because it is consciousness, like the consciousness of a dream. And, the object perceived in the waking state is of a false nature, because it is an object, like the object of a dream. And, defilement and purification do not exist without dependence on others, because they have no basis, like a garment made of turtle hair. Similarly, comparing it to the example of dizziness, etc., whatever answer is given by this proponent of consciousness, that and that are seen by wise Madhyamikas as being the same as the proposition, without the ability to prove it, therefore it is meaningless, and it eliminates all this debate of asserting the existence of consciousness, because relative to the consciousness of dreams and dizziness, etc., it is not possible to establish emptiness of meaning and that the object is of a false nature, and relative to non-deluded consciousness, being consciousness and dependence on others, etc., are also the same as what is to be proven. The second (217b) is: The Buddhas, at any time, have not taught that things exist, consciousness

There is no scriptural harm in establishing it without refutation, because the complete Buddhas have never taught that the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, etc., are real in any time, place, or circumstance. As it says in the Lankavatara Sutra: The three realms are merely imputed, in reality there is no object. The nature of imputed objects, is what the thinkers contemplate. Without self-nature and without consciousness, without a basis and without substance, bad children, the thinkers, impute these as if they were corpses. It is said. The Mind-Only proponents, among the three characteristics, say that the nature of the dependent object is emptiness through the door of emptiness where one does not have the other, but this is not speaking of emptiness without error. As it says in the Mahamati Sutra: Great wisdom, the emptiness where one does not have the other is the worst of all emptinesses. You should abandon it. It is said. Its meaning changes here, for example: A cow, the subject of the proposition, you are not existent, because you are not a horse. It is unreasonable to say this, because although a cow is empty of a horse, it is not empty of its own nature, so that dharma is not emptiness and remains. The difference between the dharma and the possessor of dharma, and how its own object is empty of self-nature, is explained in detail in the Sutra of the Meeting of Father and Son. The third part is: all three are unborn, and if not, stating the harm. The first is: The yogi, through the guru's instructions, sees the ground filled with skeletons, and there too sees that all three are unborn, to show the reversed mind. If it is not the case that there is no knowledge without an object, then when the yogi relies on the guru's instructions (218a) to meditate on ugliness, what is it that he sees the ground filled with skeletons covering the edge of the ocean? There too, it is seen that only the appearance arises due to conditions, but in reality, the object, the possessor of the object, and the consciousness are all unborn, because that samadhi is not due to the power of the mind that is exactly as it is, but due to the power of the reversed mind, as shown in the scriptures. The second part is: How are the objects of your sense consciousness, in the same way, ugliness also changes in the mind, similarly, for that object, if another focused one can realize it as it is, then it is not false either. That which the yogi sees
