If, considering the future consciousness, one says that the power of this consciousness is this, and distinguishes it by saying that this will arise from this, it can be referred to as the basis of distinction. For example, if one wants to say "cook a pot of rice" or "take this thread to sew a piece of cloth," that is also not permissible. Because if there is power, then the future consciousness that will arise from it will become an object of consciousness. Since there is no future consciousness, there is no power distinguished by it. Therefore, like the son of a barren woman, without power, the arising of this consciousness is also impossible. This negates examples such as rice. Third, the establishment that depends on each other is: The noble ones say that it is itself not established. Furthermore, if one says that power and consciousness are mutually dependent cause and effect, one as the cause and one acting on each other, therefore the fruit of consciousness arises from the cause of power, then consciousness itself will become without inherent birth and establishment. For example, just like long and short, this shore and the other shore, etc., the establishments that are established in dependence on each other are themselves not established by nature. Because the noble ones who see the nature of all dharmas as emptiness have said so. Aryadeva said: Without the fruit, there is no cause, the cause itself does not exist. Therefore, all fruits will become causes. The treatise says: If any object is established in dependence, and it also depends on itself, then when the object of dependence is established, what depends on what to be established? The meaning of these quotes is: Without power, consciousness is not established, because power is considered to be the cause of consciousness. Without consciousness, power is also not established, because power is distinguished by consciousness, called the power of consciousness. Therefore, if both are established at the same time, then neither will become the establisher. If one is not established, then neither is established. The nature of such an established object does not exist at all. Furthermore, any object that is established in dependence, if it is not established, how can it depend? If it is already established, then it depends
