Therefore, if it is said that it is unreasonable for Acharya Chandrakirti to criticize Acharya Aryadeva, then saying so is flawed and erroneous. Therefore, Chandrakirti's view also becomes erroneous and flawed. The second point is: Like a dream, even when awake, All things are false, the mind is not there, There is no object of action, and there are no senses, In a dream, the three are not established, so when awake, the establishment of the three should be prevented. Just as the three, object, sense, and consciousness, are false in a dream, similarly, in this state of being awake, things from form to omniscience are false. The mind that grasps these things does not exist, and the object of its grasp does not exist, and the senses as the basis do not exist as they appear and are grasped in the two truths. As it is said in the sutra: Like the object of illusion for sentient beings, It appears, but it is not truly real, Like an illusionist, similar to a dream, Such is the Dharma taught by the Sugata. And it says: The cycle of existence is like a dream, In this, there is no birth or death, The name and life of sentient beings are also hard to find, These dharmas are like bubbles and mirages. The third point is: Here, as in being awake, so as long as, Not awake, at that time, the three are there, If awake, the three are not there, Likewise, awakening from the sleep of ignorance is also like that. Just as when one is awake in this world, the three, object, sense, and consciousness, exist due to the great sleep of ignorance, similarly, as long as one has not awakened from the temporary small sleep of afflictions, the dreamer has the three, object, sense, and consciousness. Because the three appear, and there is also grasping like the appearance. In the Commentary on the Mind, it says: The time of awakening from a dream, There is no difference in function, In a dream, as in what is dreamed, The function is the same, but there is no self-nature. Therefore, if later Tibetans interpret the Dharma of "the self-nature of things is unobtainable," which was widely proclaimed by the Blessed One and the noble Nagarjuna and other early Madhyamika teachers, as "the self-nature of things has function," it is extremely wrong, because the self-nature of things is the world

Because of the power of ignorance, the innate mind grasps phenomena that can perform functions as true. Therefore, such inverted understanding is a delusion of the mind and must be abandoned. If one realizes that all phenomena are like objects in a dream, devoid of function, then one understands that all phenomena of the two truths, the profound emptiness, selflessness, and equality, apart from functioning as dependent origination in conventionality, arising and ceasing may also occur in a false, deceptive, and deluded manner. Such a possible object is not the essence of an object that truly exists in the two truths. Understanding this, grasping objects as functional is definitely an obscuration of knowledge. Master Tsongkhapa said that if this is the case, then the meaning of the metaphor of all phenomena being like dreams and illusions would also be inverted. Moreover, in conventional terms, by denying the cause and effect in the essence of functional objects, holding wrong views will lead to falling into the abyss of evil destinies. Therefore, the meaning of "not finding the essence of objects" is a unique object of refutation that no one in Tibet or China has been able to clearly express before. This was directly stated by the venerable Manjushri and only appears in our school, which those without merit, such as the early Tibetan Madhyamikas, cannot understand. Therefore, the Madhyamikas who appeared in Tibet in the past, such as Shangtang Sakya Chenpo, although they were holy beings in terms of conventional bodhicitta, ethics, and generosity, their ultimate bodhicitta, Madhyamika view, and practice were mistaken like the Chinese Heshang. Therefore, in the future, wise people should not follow that school, for if they do, the path to liberation and all (211b) knowledge will be cut off. From Kashmir in the lower regions to Dadu (Yuan Dadu, present-day Beijing) in the Chinese imperial palace in the upper regions, it was widely proclaimed. Nowadays, the Gelugpas consider Jetsun Redawa, the root guru to whom Tsongkhapa owes the greatest kindness, to have only held the early Madhyamika view and practice in his lifetime, and not to have attained the unerring Madhyamika view and practice realized by the great Tsongkhapa.
